Cosplaying in Germany!

Testing, Journal is working, yes?

Good.

Well now, let's see, what did I want to talk about? Since I won't be updating this journal very often, given the amount of time I spent on cosplay versus the time I spend on the rest of my life these days. But here we go:

I've spent the past 2 months over here in Stuttgart, Germany, and will be spending another 2 months here before I go back to Singapore. In these two months, I've attended one event and one photoshoot. The photoshoot with Naraku was in April, over at Karlsruhe. Despite the awkwardness of our communication due to the language barrier, we hit it off pretty well and had a lot of fun. Felt a little bad about not taking much photos for her though. ^^ But she did a really good job with my photos and editing them!! We went over to the castle at Karlsruhe (the weather was nice and warm, unlike that further up north in Stuttgart), with myself as Dietrich (Empire infiltration version) from Trinity Blood and her as Xanxus from Hitman Reborn.

Learnt quite a few things from her, inclusive of how to do the scars on Xanxus's face. (Remind me to find liquid latex back in Singapore though. I had some problems finding it the last time I was back home.) Yeah, scars had always been a problem for me. Guess I no longer have any excuse to put aside my plans for a Kurei cosplay!

It was quite surprising for me when she met me at the train station in her costume. A bit of a culture shock, frankly. For one, back in Singapore, we are rather unlikely to go to photoshoots or events in full garb. (It's usually a case of wear whatever is kinda acceptable in public, and then change out at the nearest public toilet after that.) But that's apparently not the case in Germany!

The cosplay scene in Germany is newer than in Singapore and like most places I've seen, the standard of the cosplayers usually are concentrated on the extreme poles. Another thing that I'm not used to: THE AMOUNT OF NARUTO COSPLAYERS!!

I was at Hanami at Ludwigshafen this year with Ky and Shroud. When I commented on the "90% Naruto cosplayers/10% misc Shounen jump" there, Ky asked if it weren't normal.

Well...not back home. We had our Narutard moments say...4 years ago? Give or take. ^^"
