What got you into cosplay?
I was spontaneously invited to Otakon back in 2000 by friends I've known online since about five years before that. I didn't realize how close Otakon was. I lived in Virginia and didn't even know! I had five days, made rushed plans and knew I was missing just something. So that was it. I made it to my first con in a costume.
What was your first costume and why?
First con.. missing item. Easiest costume I could think of was my favorite character in King of Fighters and Fatal Fury at the time: Blue Mary. So I begged and threw together a design for Blue Mary and got my seamstress mom to make it for me. Two days later, I'm hitting the con, getting pictures taken and got myself thrown in the con coverage of Tips & Tricks videogames magazine. With my gut hanging out. :D
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite has to be something I haven't done. It'll be something someone else happen to be wearing, that I wish I could've put together. Not my own.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Everyone's pushing me to it... so I just might make it. My dream costume is SF3 Third Strike Chun-Li. Yea, I got the mad thighs for it. May as well work it. I have to also say it's divided. I do want to also work out a cute ensamble: Philia Felice from Tales of Destiny! -- I'm going to be attempting an AF Blue Mage Mithra from FFXI for Acen 2011.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Cutting my hair up to play Vice and forgetting the Blue Mary wig I purchased at home, only to show up at the con as a very short haired Mary who stood next to a very Blue-Mary-like haired Vice cosplayer. We just needed to switch our hair.. if only mine was a wig. I'd swap.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I suck at acting. I've helped form on-the-fly masquerades. The one I was helping with in 2001 or 2002, I forget, they won some award. They mentioned my name as the casting something or other.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I never bothered putting myself through a contest.
Tell us a little about yourself
Not in school, married status but going through separation, I like video games, anime and online, chat based role playing with in depth stories.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I've been out of the Con scene since 2002, and this year, 2008-09, will be my real comeback! Look for it!
My favorite anime
Spriggan, Card Captor Sakura, Excel Saga, Digi Charat, Those Who Hunt Elves, Darkside Blues, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and most of those with Masami Obari doing the character design(just because I like the style).
My favorite game(s)
Beyond Good and Evil, Dreamscape, Pata-Pon, Tales of Destiny(1), Grandia 2, Popful Mail, King of Fighters 96 & 2003, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, etc.
My favorite book(s)
Eh... Brian Froud's Goblins? Heh.
My favorite character(s)
Take those games, anime and costumes I want to make and I'll probably say yes to any of those names. Philia Felice is one of my all time favorites.
My favorite movies(s)
I know it's cliche and people don't care for them.. but I enjoyed Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. Predator is up there as one of my favorites. I can't say I have one favorite above others. I just like fantasy/sci-fi action flicks as much as I like my plain fantasies. The only thing is that I prefer not watching drama and realistic things. Only exceptions would be comedies. Jim Hensons' Labyrinth is a good juxtaposition to all those titles I've listed above.. I have diverse tastes. Ohh! Add to all that Disney's Enchanted! True love's kiss!
My favorite actors/actresses
That's a tough choice. I like character actors so Johnny Depp goes up in the list because of how he molds them out. Vin Diesel, proving a man can look jock and still have plenty of artistic drive(and a brain). Johnathan Brandis(RIP), for his portrayal of Bastian. Jennifer Connoley for her portrayal of Sarah in Labyrinth. I'm not too keen on one actress over the other. Sigourney Weaver for Aliens, I guess.
