What got you into cosplay?
I always thought it sounded fun, and when the oppertunity to join my friend's Mermaid Melody group presented itself, I just dove in and never looked back.
What was your first costume and why?
Hannon Hosho (Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch) -- This was for my first trip to Otakon. A friend of ours was cosplaying Lucia and wanted to get a while Mermaid Melody group together, so I agreed to take Hannon.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Simon from Gurren Lagann. Against all odds,I was able to get this together with the help of a whole bunch of really generous people. So not only do I get to enjoy it, everyone who helped me put it together gets to enjoy it too.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I would love to one day cosplay Inouva or Alcyone from Magic Knight Rayearth. I'd also like to try Nia from Gurren Lagann one day.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Cosplaying at Ota'08 and having people ask for photos and hugs and complimenting my cosplay, and then telling them the story behind the costume.
Do you participate in masquerades?
No, but I do participate annually in Anime Parliament at Otakon.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Once again at Parliament, when my friends and I, as Edward, Alphonse, and Trisha, got Hohenhime convicted of being an idiot and fed to Dragon!Envy.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
My Edward Elric and Misa Amane costumes have both placed (1st and 3rd respectively) in costume contests at our local Suncoast.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm a 3rd year Cartooning major at the School of Visual arts, studying too be a graphic novelist. As for cosplaying I'm a bit of an accidental crossplayer. I've done a couple of female cosplays but the majority of the time, I'm running around dressed like a dude. All of the ones that have had effort go into them have been male characters. The right female role for me just hasn't come along yet.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I have three cats -- Silver, Gianni, and Ernest Hemmingway -- all strays raised from kittens. I also collect figures and make ufo catcher plushies in what free time I can manage.
