What got you into cosplay?
I went to my first con in 2003 and did not cosplay. I had never seen or heard of such a thing outside of Halloween. The next year, I gave it a shot and really enjoyed it!
What was your first costume and why?
My first was Miyazawa Yukino from Kare Kano. The reason is that she is my alter ego...we are soooo much alike sometimes that it is creepy. Also, my husband is a great deal like Arima. so, it just made sense! We cosplayed together. ;P
What is your favorite costume and why?
I've only really done Miyazawa Yukino and probably will continue to do it as long as I am young and lively enough to pull it off. I think my favorite might end up being this year's cosplay...which will remain a secret until I get it all done! ^.^
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I want to do a Le Chevalier D'eon cosplay at some point...but my skillz are not to that point yet. Along the same vein, I'd like to create pieces for reenactions and renaissance faires, etc...but I have little ambition for that sort of thing presently. I hope to do Miwako from Parakiss as well as Asuka from Evangelion maybe next year...wink wink
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
My first time cosplaying. I was certain that I did a horrible job and that no one would recognize me or the series I was cosplaying for. I was nervous and embarrassed. AND THEN, someone called out to me from across the way in the Dealer's Room, "Miss Miyazawa!!!!" Maybe it's silly, but I was so happy about that. I'll never forget it. :)
Do you participate in masquerades?
No, but I have thought about it more than once.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm a writer... I'm a housewife. I have degrees in Psychology and Japanese language. I love puppies.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I am planning a number of cosplays, but I'm most excited about Asuka and Miwako!!!! With a little ambition, I can do both in 2009!!!! Other plans include: Re-L (Ergo Proxy) Rakka (Haibane Renmei) Azumanga (most likely Osaka) Gunslinger Girl (I haven't decided yet) Kahoko Hino (La Corda D'oro) Kino no Tabi Steamboy (with my husband) The 5th Element (Leeloo) Emily the Strange (Emily, of course) Saikano (Chise)
