What got you into cosplay?
In junior high a friend asked if I wanted to do a Final Fantesy 7 costumes for Halloween. Halloween being my absolute favorite holiday ever' and without knowing a thing about FF or video games, agreed.
What was your first costume and why?
Aris from FF7. It was thrown together and I don't have any of the pieces for any more. The second costume I have, and it still sits in my closet, was Megumi from Kenshin.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume at the moment is my Sakura Jade Country dress. It was the first costume I did by myself. Though it was a bit uncomfortable from the full hoop skirt, I got a lot of great comments and even won an award in the novice category.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Several. Right now my top two dream costumes are Rosalina from Rose of Versatile, the blue ball dress she wears in the anime (I don't have access to the manga); and the other is an artbook dress for Sakura. This one is actually in progress! Hopefully It will be done this summer.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
The first time I cosplayed for ACEN in 2003--my first time at an anime convention. I was Eiko Carol from FF9. (we were the group who did the X-Box riot at the statue.)
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes, even if it's just a walk on.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Would have to be ACEN 2004. My group and I did Star Ocean where I was the Rena. We won Judges Choice award for our skit (a Steven Lynch song were Claude and Ashton sang about molesting each other while drunk).
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes, I got a Judges Choice: Elegant (I entered as a novice) for the Hallway Cosplay contest for my Sakura Jade Country Dress, ACen 2012.
