What got you into cosplay?
I finally got to go to Naka-kon in Kansas City. I didn't do a very good job there, so I was determined to do better. After ASTL 2008, I was hooked on Cons and cosplay, and have promised myself to make better cosplay.
What was your first costume and why?
Very first costume that wasn't cosplay that I made on my own was a Renaissance dress and chemise. The costume after that that i'm proudest of is my gypsy ensemble because I researched it to make it authentic and am often mistaken for a cast member at Ren Faires. My very first cosplay that was thrown together was Elena the Turk from FF7, but it was just me styling my hair and throwing on a suit. The cosplay that is what I consider my first that I actually worked on is Konan, the Akatsuki member, from Naruto Shippuden.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Of my costumes other than cosplay, my blue medieval/fantasy dress. It's beautiful fabric and is perfect for a fantasy setting. Of my cosplay outfits, so far it has to be Konan just because of the reactions I got and the fact that it helped to create my Con Family.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I would love to make Altair from Assassin's Creed. I will make it someday so I'll have to change this when I do. ^_^
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Anime St. Louis 2008. I was adopted by the other Akatsuki members since I'd gone to the Con by myself, and I'll always love them for it.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I would like to eventually, but right now I don't consider my cosplay to be good enough to show it off officially.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
'Fraid not. The best award I can think of that wasn't official was being mistaken for a cast member at the KC Ren Faire.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm back in college for the second time, because my first degree can't get me a job. I used to ride horses, love them still but am ready to move on. Obviously I love to dress up. ^_^ I love sewing and am getting into making my own patterns. I also love to embroider and am trying to make a business out of it. *points to her homepage*
My favorite anime
They vary. Some that will always be on the list are Fullmetal Alchemist, Ranma 1/2, Naruto, Oh My Goddess! and Ayashi no Ceres.
My favorite game(s)
Can I count all of the Final Fantasies? I love them all. I also love all the Fire Emblems, Assassin's Creed and the Devil May Cry's.
My favorite book(s)
"Beauty" by Robin McKinley is an all-time favorite. "Green Rider," "First Rider's Call" and "The High King's Tomb" by Kirsten Britain are some other favorites.
My favorite character(s)
Temari from Naruto is badass. Umi from Magic Knight Rayearth and Titania from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn also rock.
My favorite movies(s)
Labyrinth hands down. The 10th Kingdom is really well-done and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
My favorite actors/actresses
I really don't have any. I don't usually choose movies based on who's in it.
