What got you into cosplay?
I joke about being "dragged" into cosplay, but really it was more like being bitten by the cosplay bug that totally did me in. ;) One of my cheer girlfriends loaned me a costume and begged me to go to AWA with her. I went the first day in cheerleading clothes after practice, but after seeing an anime convention for myself I was hooked. My inner Nerd never fully satiated. XD So I spent the rest of the convention in costume with my friend, and it was a TOTAL blast. ;)
What was your first costume and why?
A Star Wars OC that I'd created ages ago. I wanted to see if I could bring her to life, and though the costume sucked to all hell, I still had a load of fun walking around as her.
Didn't matter to me at all that no one knew who I was. I was 16 years old and having a blast.
My first ANIME costume was Haruno Sakura from Naruto. My friend who lent the costume to me was cosplaying Yamanaka Ino, and our friendship was so much like Sakura and Ino's that we made it work perfectly. ;) That convention will probably forever be one of the best times of my life. ^_^
What is your favorite costume and why?
So far, looking over all the costumes I've done over the years, I'm going to have to say right now Time Jump Haruno Sakura. Just because I look so drastically unlike myself whilst in costume, and it was literally a jump from my normal dorky self into the persona of a hard working but lovable medical ninja. ^_^
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Yes, and one of them is actually coming together as we speak. ;)
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
They're all memorable. Reason number one why I do this is because I love hanging out with my friends at cons and in costume. Sure, we're a bunch of die-hard dorks, but memories made at cons are the ones I never forget. Every single convention that I attend, no matter what costume I'm wearing, there are at least one or two good memories made. :)
Do you participate in masquerades?
I have, yeah. But it's been a pretty long time, lol.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I have, yes. I'm not prideful or about to boast about it though. I got enough competition growing up in gymnastics. I am a competitor at the Masters level, but it's been quite a few years since I've entered anything. I'm mainly in this hobby just to have a good time and enjoy being a nerd. ;)
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm a senior in college now, (YAY) studying Political Science and Sociology. Duel-majoring is such a blast. XD I'm almost done though, so obtaining those two pieces of paper that say "I'm officially smart and I got the paper after six years to prove it" will be nice. ;)
I'm recouperating from surgery that I had on my wrist, and am now on my college's gymnastics team! :D (Working on getting my six pack back, haha).
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Formerly, I was: http://www.cosplay.com/member/38991/
My favorite anime
Hellsing, Ghost in the Shell, Outlaw Star, Shuffle!, Vampire Knight.
My favorite game(s)
Final Fantasy XIII, Valkyria Chronicles, Persona 3 and 4, Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, MvC3, and Batman Arkham Asylum.
My favorite book(s)
Consult my bookshelf.
Part of my nerdiness is highlighted by the number of books that I own. I like to read...a LOT. ;)
My favorite character(s)
Integra Hellsing, for one, because she's such a strong, stick-to-your-morals character. She could easily be cast aside by her enemies but she's not. Serah Farron, for having the innocent inspiration through the tough times, but still believing in the good for all. Jaina Solo, for being steady and strong, and being strong enough to lay aside her emotion to do the right thing. Alucard, though his sadism is great, it shall never replace his undying loyalty and protection. And last, Alicia Melchiott, for being courageous and hopeful while learning to control the great power she possesses.
My favorite movies(s)
Howl's Moving Castle, Pride and Prejudice, The Sound of Music, The Princess Bride, Transformers, 300, Spirited Away, Star Wars, Star Trek.
My favorite actors/actresses
Julie Andrews, Bing Crosby, Audrey Hepburn, Harrison Ford, and of course the hotness that is Channing Tatum. ;)
