What got you into cosplay?
Nothing in particular. I simply thought some of my regular clothes could be pulled off as Light Yagami cosplay, and came over to Sakuracon in 2008. I've been in many northwest-based gatherings ever since, including Kumoricon in Portland.
What was your first costume and why?
Light Yagami from Death Note. Technically speaking, the first version I had which I wore at Sakuracon was really just some of the clothes I'd regularly wear to work. Only the notebook seemed to have completed this cosplay. This, of course, changed into a more recognizable version with time, complete with unauthorized Apple viral marketing via "dieNote".
What is your favorite costume and why?
Seto Kaiba, from Yu-Gi-Oh! It's a cosplay specifically designed for self-humiliation with a massive ego big enough to destroy a planet. I had actually sat on the idea of playing him for years, but didn't seriously plan on it until the Abridged Series renewed my interest.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
If only I could easily make things from scratch... though I'm slowly but surely learning. As for my dream cosplay, there really isn't any one particular character I set my sights on. Usually I just think about a character that's just too easy to make fun of, and if he's easy enough to cosplay, DO WANT.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Kumoricon 2008, by far. Not only was it the first time I went out of Washington State, but it was also when I discovered how Portland simply kicks Puget Sound to the curb. I'd certainly like to go back again if I could.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Only the one in Kumoricon 08, sadly. And there wasn't much to talk about, really...
What was your best masquerade experience?
... well, there were a couple of people who found it hilarious to see me dancing romantically with only my dieNote.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
People win awards for this?! ZETSUBOU SHITA!
Tell us a little about yourself
I am someone who to this day continues to fight against destiny. Though with the failing economy and only my part-time job to get by, it's not an easy task at hand. And my only real means of killing time are cosplay and card games.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
If you came here in hopes of finding out more personal information from me, I must again leave you in despair.
My favorite anime
Kino's Journey, Gungrave, Code Geass, R.O.D, Utena... pretty much anything that isn't too sickeningly moé, with only one or two exceptions.
My favorite game(s)
Team Fortress 2, hands down. And before anyone asks, I actually make a terrible Spy— for me, Medic and Demoman are how I roll best.
My favorite book(s)
Fahrenheit 451, and Nineteen Eighty-Four. They're the first books that come to my mind thanks in no small part to their hard and powerful messages, and an accurate rendition of all my childhood fears.
My favorite character(s)
Light Yagami, naturally, though not because I agree with his methods or ideals. On the contrary, I think he's a murderous lunatic just wanting to play God— only he's quite hilarious to watch, let alone cosplay.
My favorite movies(s)
Back to the Future, even if only just because I can watch it again and again and still find something new.
My favorite actors/actresses
I don't really have any; or rather, I'm stuck picking between Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger.
