What got you into cosplay?
Purely random event in 2003 called playing Final Fantasy X. I wasn't even a huge anime fan at the time, but I wanted to pay my tribute to Yuna-- My very first obsessive, passionate love.It wasn't until I hit college that the anime fan inside me woke up again, and that started it all over again~
What was your first costume and why?
Officially? Summoner Yuna. I really had no idea about the world of cosplay, I just loved her character design and everything else about her and I wanted to make that costume. Never did I imagine myself making a habit of cosplaying.
Non-officially? Kari from Digimon 02. I didn't even know it was called cosplay at the time, but I made gloves out of stockings and found shorts and a top and bought a whistle. I wore it around the house when I watched Digimon.
What is your favorite costume and why?
It's really hard to say, I love all of them. I've put my blood, sweat, and tears into all of them.
Probably my most proud costume would be my Cagalli ORB uniform considering I learned how to sew (more than what basics I learned as a child) using that overtly complicated thing. All I had was a sewing machine, fabric, a pattern that had to be modified, and "Visually Teach Yourself Sewing." That being said, as Cagalli is like my most favorite character of all time, I'm sad I couldn't do her more justice. orz
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Gurren Lagann at MTAC: Ninja. You guys are all amazing! Vanille at Animazement 2011, FF fans are the best!
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not generally. I did when I was new, but now I just enjoy cosplaying for the sake of cosplaying. I actually don't even attend them to watch. Skit contests that were more about skits than about cosplay ruined it all for me.
What was your best masquerade experience?
My first and only experience was at MTAC: Pi in 2003. My friend did Quistis and I did Yuna. We didn't do a skit, so we felt out of place. I was terrified the entire time, but we won Honorable Mention which was basically we didn't do a skit, but our costumes rocked-- or so they told us.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes~ Honorable Mention at MTAC: Pi
