What got you into cosplay?
I first got into cosplay when I was in high school when I figured out the idea of dressing up as characters I liked from the anime and video games I was into/getting into. I've always enjoyed dressing up in costume, so combining a love for costumes with my favorite characters for which there were not set costumes was an intriguing new world. Later, when I started entering the world of anime conventions, the cons themselves helped get me further into cosplay.
What was your first costume and why?
Technically speaking, my first anime/video game related costumes were Halloween ones of Princess Jupiter and Link. For Halloween in 1999 and 2000, I just really wanted to dress up as them: Princess Jupiter because I love Sailor Jupiter but didn't have the fuku; Link because I had become more of a Zelda fan, I had transferred to a high school that let you wear costumes to school on Halloween, and I wanted to run around as one of my favorite video game characters.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Right now, I would have to say that my Wolf Link costume is my favorite one. I realize that it's not perfect, but it's my first fursuit and I'm bloody proud of it. It was tedious yet fun to make, I had a lot of fun wearing it, I met a bunch of great people thanks to it, and it helped get me to Cosplay Veteran status in an amusing skit.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
At this point, I'd like to make another version of my Wolf Link costume now that I have more experience with constructing a fursuit. I'd also like to be Impa from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Chloe Valens from Tales of Legendia, and in the hopefully not too distant future, I'd like to make an EVE costume from WALL-E.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Animazement 2008 as Wolf Link with my friend as Midna and my other friend as Amaterasu. I had it made with two possible costume pairs: one duo from Zelda: Twilight Princess and a duo of wolves.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Oh yes, yes I do. XD
What was your best masquerade experience?
My latest one, Animazement 2008. It was my second time doing a cosplay skit and I was in there with several friends. Wolf Link, Midna, Kyon, and Amaterasu make for an amusing group in a small auditorium.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes. My Wolf Link costume helped two of my friends and me with Third Place Novice Cosplay for our "Midna's Betrayal" skit at Animazement 2008. We're Veterans now!
