What got you into cosplay?
I went to cons and saw people cosplay. Thought it was a bit weird at first, but it looked fun anyway. My cousin has been bugging me to cosplay with her but, I never really had the courage to actually do it until I checked out a few more cons with my friends. My first cosplay is a project between me and my boyfriend
What was your first costume and why?
Makimachi Misao from Rurouni Kenshin because my boyfriend was bent on doing an Aoshi costume and Misao is my favorite female from the series.
What is your favorite costume and why?
R. Dorothy Wayneright from Big O. I have yet to perfect the makeup, but it's fun to do because I really get noticed in the costume. Sometimes reactions are good ("Wow, R. Dorothy!) and sometimes they're bad ("What's with the creepy goth chick?"), but I definately get noticed ^o^
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Here is Greenwood cosplay! It may be a short, psuedo-obscure series but I love it. I love Shinobu, but I doubt I'd be able to cosplay him in his school outfit since it just wouldn't be convincing. So it dawned on me, Devil Lord Clorets/Cool Mint from the play/side stories. I'll do it one day, definately >.<
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Mothers asking me to take pictures with their children. It's so cute ^^
Do you participate in masquerades?
I a walk-on for the first time at Anime Overdose 2004 out of boredom since I attended the con alone. By Anime Destiny 2004, my boyfriend and I had worked out a skit. It was my second masquerade experience and my first skit and we were awarded a box of Red Vines and won Best Skit. ^__^ Sort of revised the skit for Anime Expo 2005 just to do it in front of a bigger audience. We also did a little salsa routine for a Scryed skit at Fanime... whee Judges award ^^
What was your best masquerade experience?
Definately my first skit is my favorite masquerade experience. My boyfriend and I (OK mostly my boyfriend but I watched him come up with it ~__~;)worked out a Big O skit for our Roger Smith and R. Dorothy costumes which was half physical comedy and half witty humor with a little bit of vague innuendo thrown in (of course it was PG-13 so nothing too bad =D) we got a really good response from the audience although we didn't account for such a drastic response as they were laughing well over some of the recorded parts of the skit. All and all it was good fun. Once we got off stage the masquerade staff gave us an entire box of Red Vines =D and after it was over we were awarded Best Skit. Too fun!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Not specifically for costumes, but my group won a Judge's Award at Fanime 2005. We also got Best Skit at Anime Destiny 2004.
Tell us a little about yourself
Graduated with a B.S. in public relations and now work as an account coordinator at a high tech public relations firm. Pretty decent job, but that doesn't mean I like working =/
I have two older brothers which makes 5 of us in our family. I also have a huge extended family, including my little cousin who has been cosplaying for many years more than I have.
As for hobbies, I'm your typically little nerd girl. I like playing video games, playing paper & pencil RPGs, anime, working on my website and jrock. I am currently in a jrock cover band that plays a lot of anime theme songs. =D
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm pretty friendly so go ahead and chat me up, the only time I will ignore you is if I am busy but catch me at a later time and we can chat. I am a pretty normal person, so you don't have to talk to me like a character just be yourself and tell me about your interests and I'm sure we will find some sort of common ground to connect on. =D
