What got you into cosplay?
When I attended my first con, I had the greatest time. There, I saw all of the people around me having such an amazing time in costume that I was convinced I HAD to do it myself. And here I am, however many years later...
What was your first costume and why?
It took me nearly 3 years after attending my first con to get a sewing machine with which to sew a costume. My first costume was Chii, from Chobits, in her blue bakery dress. I had a great time making and wearing it, and it amuses me that a certain friend still says "Chii?" at me at every con I see him at ^_^
What is your favorite costume and why?
Chosing a favorite costume is like chosing a favorite child! I don't think that I could do it. Chii holds a special place in my heart as it was my first costume and I felt exceptionally cutesy in it. Humpty Dumpty was fun, even though at the time no one knew who I was - but come on, how often can you get away with wearing a dress with slits that reach up to the waist?
My most recent costume, Caesar from Takarazuka's "Rome at Dawn" - ghetto though it may be - was really quite fun to make and wear. Wearing something so obscure really helped me to find other 'Zuka fans among the throngs of people at Katsucon.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
There are so many gorgeous and elaborate costumes that, given my current ability, I feel I'm unqualified to make. For years, I was limited financially and unable to make many elaborate costumes.
My biggest problem right now is that most of the costumes I would like to attempt making I am too large for and have a completely unsuited body type for.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Probably cosplaying very obscure things and being recognized - and thus making friends because of it!
Do you participate in masquerades?
I haven't yet participated in any masquerades or cosplay contests. I always felt as though I wasn't good enough and thus didn't try to enter. I hope to overcome those fears and enter sometime in the future!
What was your best masquerade experience?
I've only watched from the Audience!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Not yet - but, again, that's only because I've never entered any contests, I suppose!
Tell us a little about yourself
Are you in school, have a family, hate your job, have any hobbies, etc?
I graduated in December 2004 from Temple University, live in South Philadelphia and slave away as web coordinator for a large University health system in the area. I love my job, but am easily bored and/or distracted.
Aside from cosplaying, I love watching Takarazuka (Japanese all-female musical theatre) and sink ungodly amounts of money into my 'zuka collection -_-;; On a related note, I also spend large chunks of time on content for the Takarazuka wikipedia (http://www.takarazuka-revue.net/takawiki/tiki-index.php)
