I'm a 23 year old illustrator/concept artist who is stationed near Atlanta, GA. I've just graduated from Kennesaw State with a degree in Fine Art. I like all things creative, and have a range of hobbies from drawing to painting to costuming to scrapbooking to singing to ballet dancing to video game playing to nightly attempts at world domination through the use of corgis.
What got you into cosplay?
I've always been a very artsy person, and so when I realized that cosplay was an art form that allowed me to marry my love for anime and crafts, I just couldn't resist.
What was your first costume and why?
In 1998, I wanted to be Sailor Moon for Halloween, and so my mom and I got together and did what the two of us do best! At the time we didn't realize that what we were doing had a name because as a kid everyone likes to dress as their favorite characters. I guess if we're taking that into consideration, my first real cosplay was back in 1992 when I dressed up as the Queen of Hearts for Halloween!
What is your favorite costume and why?
My Eternal Sailor Venus costume that I first wore to AWA 8 has to still be my all-time favorite costume. It was fun to design and put together with my mom, and even more fun to wear especially when you can include your friends!
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Harmonic Cosplay's first debut performance at Animazement 2004 was my most memorable experience. Having worked so hard on those costumes and the dance moves made it all the more exhilarating when we had to do it on stage in front of hundreds of people!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes, I was in the trio group that won first place in the Advanced Category at Animazement 2004.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently a Drawing and Painting major at a university in Georgia, and want to make it big in the concept art and illustration industry. Cosplay is only one of my many hobbies, but is one that my whole family can take part of. My mom loves to sew, and my dad likes putting lights in things! My other hobbies include Ballet dancing, reading, singing, playing video games, and scrapbooking!
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm in my last semester of my college career, and am an art major and dance minor. After I graduate, I hope to get a job doing illustration somewhere, attend graduate school, and then become a freelance illustrator (with possible side-job as a college professor or dancer or something). I'm just really open; I can't wait to see where life takes me!
