What got you into cosplay?
My good friend introduced me to cosplay and conventions, and it was thrilling right from the start. I saw all the people dressed in costumes of not only characters I loved, but costumes I could never dream of accomplishing. Of course, I was instantly saying to myself "I GOTTA DO THIS!" and behold! Here I am today... Do I dare call it success?
What was your first costume and why?
Lol, my first costume was "Idiotic civilian who always gets attack by the bad guy/monster in the show". My first REAL cosplay was Shuuichi Shindou from Gravitation. It seemed like a good idea at the time, however I do admit my aunt made the coat and shorts for me. Everything else was altered clothes and store-bought things.
What is your favorite costume and why?
So far, my Officer Jenny has been my favorite. It was completely hand-sewn and by far has been one of my most accurate costumes. It was also very successful at the conventions.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Yessir! But I'm not making that public yet...
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Lol, that would be a very early one. I was in my Kouga costume at Megacon (I forget which year exactly), my friend was dressed as human Inuyasha, and we met another group of Inuyasha cosplayers. A big photoshoot took place, not ot mention a lot of people seemed to love my costume.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes! I attended my first masquerade at Metrocon 2008. It was not worth the extra $10, but it was... cute. I guess. I probably won't be attending any more.
What was your best masquerade experience?
When it was over, lol. I don't really remember much about it except sitting on the floor to watch the skits no one could hear, and slow-dancing awkwardly with my friend every other song.
I think the only thing I really liked was going off of the con attendants about having to dish out extra money for the event. It helped me vent; I don't like wasting money.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes I have, I won a Hall Award from Anime Sushi for my Faith costume. But that's all; I don't enter contests. I don't trust the judges' opinions.
Tell us a little about yourself
I graduated high school in 2006, I'm 24 now, I do not attend any colleges, nor do I intend to unless I win the lottery or get motivated enough, and I work a lovely theme park here in sunny Florida. I (obviously) enjoy cosplay, drawing, filming and photography, video editing, music, dancing, and gaming.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
"So You Think You Can Dance" is the shiz-nit.
