What got you into cosplay?
Beating Zelda: Twilight Princess. I've made lots of non-cosplay costumes, or maybe they were and I didn't realize it at the time. I've made Hawk Girl, V from Vendetta and parts of costumes for other people.
I'm already pretty artistic and love making things. I really love dressing up in costumes whenever the opportunity arises, and generally just enjoy creating something that looks great, something unique or different that I did a great job on and look good in. I enjoy watching other people in costume too, and appreciate their hard work as well.
What was your first costume and why?
I've made Ren Fair costumes, but probably my first real 'costume' was Hawk Girl for halloween 3 years ago - I made the parts and the wings by hand, and it came out lovely. I dyed my hair too, and made the mace out of foam, PVC and duct tape. Wish I had pics.. Before that, I did a throw together Princess Leia, I've since done "V" from Vendetta, now thats something I wish Ihad pics of.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My Midna costume is turning out to be my fav, though I'm going to re-make hawk girl this year. Midna is just beautiful, and has so many details that have to be hand-made and I'm just having blast getting my costume of her 'just right'. I wanted red contacts, but can't get them in my strength.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Hard to say, but probably a World of Warcraft, complete with full armor. I think after hand making a costume from scratch with no patterns, I'd like to tackle armor pieces next.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I guess it'd have to be in Animazement '08, when I showed up in Midna gear. I found another Zelda group by accident and took photos, and at one point, wantering by myself, a little girl (well, teen, anyway) saw me, squeeed! and said "I heart midna' hugged me gently and skipped off. It was so terribly cute.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not as yet. I volunteer as staff for one of the two cons a year that I attent, so I can't participate in any contests there.
