What got you into cosplay?
Anime Expo, and my love for Final Fantasy.
What was your first costume and why?
Cosplay-wise: Irvine Kinneas of Final Fantasy VIII. For the level I had at the time of construction, this was a relatively simple (yet complex at the same time) costume to create. And, above all, Irvine was from Final Fantasy. ^_^
What is your favorite costume and why?
Currently, it has to be my Sir Fratley Irontail cosplay from Final Fantasy IX. Featured in the Video Games Live! World Tour 2006 at the Hollywood Bowl, and won five awards, including Best of Show and Best Craftsmanship.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Currently in thought; there a few... but currently in thought.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
2003 = When I first walked into the Dealer's Hall @ Anime Expo 2003, a girl ran up and hugged me, all because I was Irvine. I felt wuved. XD
2004 = I never expected to receive such an amazing amount of positive commentary on my Sephiroth costume at Ani-Magic. The sound level of the roaring applause during my walk-on in the Ani-Magic Masquerade was just awe-inspiring. I remember a few people saying that I was the best Sephiroth cosplayer they have ever seen. That was a comment I really did not expect, yet it made me feel really proud as a cosplayer. I owe many thanks to Matt for inspiring me to make this Sephiroth outfit.
2005 = Anime L.A., best convention I have ever gone to. I stayed with the greatest people ever, and was part of a great Final Fantasy VII group.
2006 = The year of the Burmecians. Finally getting to cosplay the furry creatures from Final Fantasy IX with Hoshikage, being in a great Final Fantasy IX cosplay group (with Hoshikage, Pikacello, Hoshikaji, and their Trance Kuja comrade), and three consecutive masquerades producing a combination total of five awards for my beloved Burmecian costumes (especially winning a Best Craftsmanship division award at the humungous Anime Expo! o_o AND Best of Show and Best Craftsmanship at MikomiCon 2006! O_O!)
Do you participate in masquerades?
Indeed, some of the time.
What was your best masquerade experience?
So far, it has to be the 2006 Anime Los Angeles and Anime Expo masquerades (see above with the "Most Memorable Cosplay Experience"). The year of the Burmecians for sure!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Awards... mere materialistic objects... are nothing compared to the positive evaluation of your cosplay peers and closest friends. To me, these are the real awards of cosplay. This is still my mindset, even though I have won several awards.
Tell us a little about yourself
I love to draw. I've been drawing as long as I can remember. Curious as to what types of drawings I do? Check out my DeviantArt site (click my homepage link above). University grad. I'm also currently working on my own video game / graphic novel / anime.

My favorite anime
For what I've seen (entire series / every episode): Ayashi no Ceres, Full Metal Alchemist, Basilisk, Full Metal Panic, Full Metal Panic: Fumoffu, Record of Lodoss War, and Chobits. I also have seen the first four DVDs of Final Fantasy: Unlimited, and would like to continue on with that series. Other Animes that I have skimmed over / currently watching include: Monster, Hellsing, Bleach, Naruto, Love Hina, Cowboy Bebop, Witch Hunter Robin, X, Tenchi Muyo (Galaxy Police, etc.), Fushigi Yuugi, Trigun, Rurouni Kenshin, Cosplay Complex, etc. Some Anime movies I have seen include: Metropolis, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, etc.
