What got you into cosplay?
An art teacher in my freshman year of high school gave me a flyer she got in the mail for a convention that was running in Minnesota. I wanted to go so badly and felt that cosplaying would make it more fun.
What was your first costume and why?
My OC Ashira but InuYasha was my first true one. I was absolutely obsessed with the show back in '04, so my boyfriend at the time helped me make it. It wasn't the best and a lot was wrong with it, but it was my first and so holds a special place in my heart.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Sango is my current favorite, though I'm sure that when I do Kurama next year, it will top her. Sango's personality fits me well and when I got the costume, it fit really nice on me. It's the only costume that fits me right for the time being.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
For the time being, it's Kurama. I will be doing him next year at Anime Detour. But for something that's not in the near future, I'd have to say Yue from Card Captor Sakura. He's just so awesome and I would love to do a character with angel wings.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
InuYasha - At Anime Detour 2007, I got piled on by a bunch of Narutards. I seriously had to have a friend pull me out of the pack. It was like having an open wound in a tank of sharks.
Ashira - At a July 2008 anime lock-in, I had an Axel (Kingdom Hearts 2) try to take my heart shaped necklace. This went on until the lock-on ended at midnight.
Sango - At a 2008 picnic in May, having a Sakura (Naruto) jump on me, wrap her legs around my waist and hug me really hard. Not something I expected for being Sango.
Do you participate in masquerades?
No, only because I've never had the chance to.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Nope because I don't have the sewing prowess to enter one of those. InuYasha was made for me, Sango and Kurama were bought online and Kaoru, Videl and Ashira were stuff found in my closet.
Tell us a little about yourself
I graduated from Waconia High School in '07. I work as a receptionist at a tannery. I'm curently looking for a new job because the pay at the tannery isn't all that great, even with the couple perks I have for being the only person working there.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm very quirky and I like a lot of interesting things, such as: yaoi, yuri and mpreg. I love to sing, draw and dance. I'm obsessed with Yu Yu Hakusho, Harvest Moon and Okami. I love to cosplay because I get to act like my favorite characters. It also takes me away from reality.
