What got you into cosplay?
I have always been one of those not quite normal people who quite happily ran around town/school/univeristy in long velvet ball-gowns or short pixie dresses with 4ft wings. I wore kitty cat ears (complete with collar and appropriate eye make up) for 6 months straight, including university exams. When I re-discovered Tasmania's Anime, Gaming and popular culture society (*pimp* DigiVisiPoP - http://www.aicon.org.au/forums *pimp*) I couldn't resist. I blame the lovely Haraju2Girls (Inuki Chan and Cyber Snow White) and the wonderful, if illusive, Djinn .....
What was your first costume and why?
xXx Holic Spider Lady was my first competition costume. I fell in love with her as soon as I read her story arc back in 2004/5. I was so upset to see the colours that they chose to give her in the anime! She's called the jorou gumou (golden spider) so why does she have maroon accessories?
My first costume ever (or that I have photo evidence for) was Wicket the Ewok. I'm not sure if I'll post that pic or not .....
What is your favorite costume and why?
Manifest Emeraldas weekend (Mani 2008).
I had so much fun playing with my super-long hair and eyelashes of doom!! over the weekend.
Oda Nobunaga (Ai Con 2009).
The second thing that I made for the boy ... and the first time I'd attempted doing full armour.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Esmeraudo (Sailor Moon R) (or whichever creative romanisation you'd like to use). I share both my name and a laugh that is similarly awful with her.
Fran (FFXII) for the leather challenge ... though the leg angst might beat me!
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Tas Sci Fi con as Aiko with my lovely boy!twin Ichiro;
Ai Con 2009 with my wonderful boy ... and managing to not fall off my shoes.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Mini Animania Melbourne (2009) - Best Group, Runner up best Skit.
Ai Con Cosplay (Feb 2009) Best in theme.
Manifest Sunday (September 2008) Best N00b - pre-judge.
