What got you into cosplay?
I've wanted a Chun Li costume ever since I was in the eighth grade, but it was only after my obsession with Sailor Moon started that I found my chance. Back then, I didn't even know the term "cosplay", and I certainly didn't know there were capable people out there willing to make me costumes for a reasonable fee. I've always loved Halloween, so wanting to dress as my favorite characters came naturally. Wearing them in front of people is just "so much gravy".
What was your first costume and why?
The senshi I most identified with was Mars, due to our similar personalities. My stepfather sent me a link on eBay to a Sailor Mars costume. I missed the auction but e-mailed the seller, my dear Setsunachan, who sold me another one. From then on I was hooked.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I think my Eternal Sailor Mars costume. It's made to my measurements and of such lovely material that it looks perfect on me. Plus, it is her ultimate form.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
It used to be Chun Li, but now Jenny gave that to me. I think I'd like a silk version of the Princess Mars gown.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Definitely my very first time out in public in costume. Having people stop me every other minute to take my picture was the most uplifting experience of my life.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I used to, but now that I attend larger cons with my boyfriend, we just don't want to commit the time. I might in the future, however.
What was your best masquerade experience?
My first cosplay competition. I entered it at the last minute and came up with a "mini skit" all in a flash. I only said three sentences and I didn't expect to win (nor did I) but I got some laughs and a few catcalls (much thanks, boys!)
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Not so much for my costume, but our group won "Best Journeyman" for our skit at BAAF 2003.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm an administrative assistant for a construction company located in midtown Manhattan, where I love the people I work with, and the chance to work in New York City. I have a website for Sailor Moon character cosplayers called Sailor Moon Avatars, which was my first site, a fanart site called Crimson Sky Creations, another site for Utena character cosplayers called Ohtori Avatars, and a personal cosplay site called Blood, Sweat, and Glitter. A lot of my hobbies revolve around anime in some form, or Japanese culture at large.
