What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Cosplaying Billy Coen... because next to no one knew who I was or that I was even a Resident Evil character (despite being constantly in a group of friends cosplaying as other RE characters). It wasn't that the cosplay sucked (I had everything, incl. tatoo, handcuffs and rockin mullet), but that aparently so few people actually played RE0 or paid attention to it... That or they were all too distracted by an accurate, busty, incredibly hot Claire Redfield in form-fitting jeans to care.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Formal ones? No. But I count the various tokens obtained from awesome people an fans of the characters as more of an award than any panel could give... because a Fan is going to be harder to please and pass something on than any panel of judges will ever be.
I did win a Star Wars Costume contest when the Special Editions came out. It was between a Han Solo, a RotJ Luke and me... a shrimpy middle schooler in a home-made Storm Tropper outfit that I made working with my dad. I think what won it for me was the line "Aren't you a little short for a storm-trooper?"
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm a fencing student under two of the finest coaches in the world. I work at a hella cool library. Outside cosplay, working and fencing I spend my spare time reading, playing games and RPing.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm a big believer that the character is as much a part of the cosplay as the attire. If I'm not familiar with a character or series I don't do a cosplay involving them. I'm not in costume unless I'm in character. :)
