What got you into cosplay?
I've had an interest in taking up the hobby since high school, but wasn't allowed to because of my strict parents who didn't want their daughter to become a nerd (SEE HOW WELL THAT TURNED OUT?!). I started actually taking up the hobby when I started dating a cosplayer and was convinced to join his cosplay group.
What was your first costume and why?
Haruhi Suzumiya's bunny girl costume. She's one of my favorite anime characters, and I thought it'd be an easy costume to throw together. I made it in about 3 days.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Lucy Heartfilia. I can really relate to her character, and making her cosplay was an interesting experience, to say the least. It's also a super-comfy costume and easy to walk around in, especially in the hot Florida sun!
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Long list of cosplays I want to do is long. .__.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
My friends and I won a Judge's Choice at NarutoTrek for our Naruto Lolita group. xD
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm a senior at the University of South Florida, majoring in Creative Writing and studying Japanese on the side. I don't know what my plans are after graduation, but I do know I want to keep having fun. When I told my parents I started taking up the hobby they forbade me from doing in high school, they thought I was insane. My dad still thinks I'm insane, but my mother, who is a seamstress herself, likes that I'm improving my sewing skills and doing something I enjoy. I can sew, knit, crochet, embroider, needlepoint, quilt, paint, draw, and write, among other things. If I can't make a writing career work out for me, I may end up trying to make a living with sewing - it's worked out pretty well for my mom, who runs a custom drapery business out of a spare bedroom in my parents' house.
