What got you into cosplay?
A friend told me about A-kon back when I was in middle school. I was really getting into anime at the time, so I thought it would be a lot of fun to dress up. As soon as that first convention was over, I started getting ideas for what I wanted to dress up as *next* year, and ever since then it's been an ongoing thing- and my sewing skills, I'm proud to say, have considerably improved.
What was your first costume and why?
Female Ranma from Ranma 1/2. I chose it because I was very much into Ranma 1/2 at the time, and it (I thought) would have been a very easy costume for me.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Shihoudani Yuujirou from Princess Princess: It's a pain in the ass to wear mostly because of the height of the shoes, but it's put together very well,
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Samus Aran from Metroid- in any costume.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
The nights I stayed up until almost midnight at my mom's house sewing together my costumes.
Do you participate in masquerades?
No, but I'd like to.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
My Shihoudani Yuujirou (Princess Princess) costume won second place at Mu Epsilon Kappa's Fall 2008 costume contest at UNT, and Isako (Dennou Coil) also won second place in the Spring 2009 costume contest.
Tell us a little about yourself
I go to school at the University of North Texas as a fashion design major. Before that, my intention was to do costume design, and I may very well pursue that, too.
