Lolichan
Adrienne is an American singer/songwriter living in the United Kingdom.
When she is not singing and writing songs, she makes her own clothes and costumes.
Her favorite convention is Dragon*Con, where she is guaranteed to go every year. She doesn't like anime conventions as much but occasionally goes to them to hang out with her friends.
She loves to meet other cosplayers, so say hi if you manage to see her.
What got you into cosplay?
I love sewing. I like manga, video games, and comics. I love traveling to new places and going to conventions. It started with Anime Boston (which I found out about from livejournal) and I somehow managed to fall head first into the cosplay scene.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume ever was as Sally from the saturday morning Sonic the Hedgehog cartoon. I was eleven, and it was all sewn by hand. It was pretty awful, but not bad for an eleven year old I guess. I ended up taking it apart though, so I have no pictures. My first anime cosplay was Usagi's school uniform (Sailormoon) because it's cute and not difficult. ^^ I also took that apart though. The first cosplay I made for a con was Miaka, which you can see in my gallery a little bit.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Hands down, Tsunade. Aside from the fact that I love the character to death, and Naruto is by FAR my favorite show, the costume is insanely comfortable and I love wearing it. Out of all the 25+ costumes I've made, Tsunade is the only one I really, really like. All the others have disappointed me in one way or another.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
My "dream" costume WAS to cosplay Harley Quinn alongside a Poison Ivy. Some people have fancy pants dream costumes involving wings and armor and gravity defying wigs. Hell no, my dream was simply to be Harley and have an Ivy because I love them more than anything. Body issues and lack of someone willing to cosplay Ivy prevented this from happening for years. Thanks to my darling friend Lisa (Kurthy133 on this site) that dream came true at Dragon*Con and it was absolutely everything I had hoped it would be. I really can't think of anything that could be by 'new' dream costume.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
From AX05. I was walking around as Tsunade and this guy was walking past me and he held what looked like a palm pilot, in my face, but i guess it was some kind of recording device/camera. He looked at me and said to the camera "This is the most amazing Tsunade ever. This is the Tsunade I am going to think of and remember on those long lonely nights when i'm watching new episodes of Naruto by myself." I just about died.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I do, but I fully admit that I'm not a big fan of them. I'm not crazy about participating in them, and I really really really don't like watching them. Preparing for a masquerade performance is time consuming and stressful and generally a pain in my fuckin' ass. But I do love to perform, and I like competition, so if one of my friends has a skit idea that I like I will usually go with it. But I like competing in hall contests a lot more than masquerades.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Hmm.... I think a lot of the masquerade experience has to do with the staff and judges. I think I liked Katsucon 11's masquerade the best. Not only did my friends and I have a lot of fun, but the judges were absolutely wonderful, and the staff was great too.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm a singer/songwriter, and a songwriting major at Berklee College of Music in Boston. I am primarily a vocalist but I play guitar and piano. My guitar is a white fender strat. Right now I'm a solo artist but hopefully I'll eventually stop hating the human race enough to have a full band. I enjoy spending my time sleeping, sleeping, sleeping, and not being awake. I love coffee, science fiction, Joss Whedon, comics, Star Trek, music that doesn't suck, and of course manga and video games. Furthermore, I have the same birthday as Squall and Temari.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
