DizzyPanda

Hi. I'm known as Amber. :D I have no nicknames - seeing as Amber can't be shortened to anything :'( , except maybe Amburger, as the sushi guy at my work likes to call me. Let me tell you, Amburger sounds so funny with an eastern accent. I believe he's from Thailand. O.o

I'm 19, and I just created this new DizzyPanda account - although in 2005 I created an account here...but that's long lost and probably went to username heaven by now. I can't even remember what it was! So cosplay has kind of been on my mind for a few years now. A secret little desire of mine. :D

I have zero sewing skills. I attempted a gypsy costume for Halloween one year - which only survived with the help of safety pins and a lot of pride, but I still have it! And then my Haruko, of course. Which was fun - I used red vinyl for the main coat. I mean, come on, it's her riding jacket - it's not going to be cotton! And then the stripes on it really were from an old leather jacket. That was cool. I was going to try to pull some voodoo to make some hidden pockets behind them - but that never panned out.

So, enjoy the things on my profile that are soon to come - and I look forward to learning from all the experienced cosplayers here. This place is the $#!T!

What got you into cosplay?
I've been dying to learn how to sew. Contrary to the popular belief that all grandmas are supreme seamstress', my grandma is not - and that's who raised me. :) I dabbled in the manga and watched a little bit of DBZ and some Inuyasha on TV. More manga than anime - that's for sure. I'd actually like to get a hold of some more... But it was my excuse to sew something fun! I love costumes - Halloween is my second favorite holiday of the year for me. I had the most badass pirate "wench" costume. I didn't make it, however, I know it's going to be a perfect model for other costumes to come. =D
What was your first costume and why?
Haruko from FLCL. Minus the bass guiter and the moped. It was simple - and slightly incomplete. That part made me sad. I love my 3' long hair to dye it and wigs were just too expensive, so I tied it up in a pony and had bright pink aviators on instead. *shrug* I wasn't trying to be completely accurate, really. Although for future costumes I'd like to change that.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
The day I get married I want to be seasoned enough to make my own wedding dress. It's not technically a costume - but I'd like to make it. :) But I do see many designs that catch my eye that's I'd like to attempt. The more insane the better. I'm gonna bite off a bigger chunk than I can chew one of these days - I can feel it, lol.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently PAST DUE for my high school diploma. I'm not out of the running yet, though. Apparently you have to ATTEND and do homework. Ya, go figure right? Anywho - trying to repent for that. Then I plan on going to a local college, a branch of the University of Alaska Anchorage to get an associates in SOMETHING - and then finish up my bachelors in Anchorage. Minoring in Japanese, for sure.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I want a sewing machine for Christmas!! My grandma is hogging her two. -_-'
