What got you into cosplay?
One of my best friends was already cosplaying and I went once to masquerade. I instantly wanted to be part of all this!!!
What was your first costume and why?
Aeris from Final Fantasy 7. Why? Well, at first I really wanted Eternal Sailor Moon, but for a newbie, I realized it was too difficult, especially getting a wig (impossible, back then for me *_*). Later on, I saw an Aeris figure and I got the art book! I loved her instantly!!! So, that's why! ;)
What is your favorite costume and why?
Right now, it's Lulu. I liked the result a lot and with help from a friend it was ready in a week!!!
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Way too many!!! Dizzy and I-no from Guilty Gear. Alcyone from MKR. Misha from Pitaten. Mai Shiranui. I hope I can get a couple of those done this year!
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Well, all of them have been special. With each cosplay it's been a different experience :)
Do you participate in masquerades?
I used to a lot before until I got bored (Mexican public is not very kind >:( ), but I've also been a judge. I have felt like going back as a normal participant XD
What was your best masquerade experience?
A very special time was when I wore my Lulu cosplay. It was a group, we were 5: me as Lulu, Ale as Yuna, Apolinar as Auron, Seve as Tidus and Fabricio as Yojimbo. Our skit was really nice, but the judges gave us 2nd place, all the public was yelling that it was a fraude. So, it was nice. Also, a lot of people congratulated us!!!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yeah, around five times I think. And I've been a finalist for the Mexican WCS.
Tell us a little about yourself
Mmmm, well, what do you want to know??? Let's start from the beginning. I was born on August 4 in Oakland, California. My parents were Mexican though, my dad was a Vietnam vet and thanks to that me and my sisters had some privileges. My dad worked for the U.S. postal services as well as my mom did later own. I arrived to Mexico when I was 11 and lived there for a loooong time. Don't ask me which country I love more!!! Each one has its own cool things and can't be compared. When I'm in Mexico, I miss the US so much and when I'm in the US, I miss Mexico so much too! Yeah! I'm a bit weird! XD My sisters, Jeanette and Virginia. Jeanette is married and has three children, Andrea, Paulina and Jared. Virginia is recently married and has two daughters, Karla and Julieta and just had in March a baby boy named Santiago. Jeanette lives here in San Pablo (California) and Virginia in Richmond (that's California too). Me? I'm an English teacher and probably soon-to-be French teacher. I used to teach in a Catholic private school which teaches from kindergarten up to high school, and I taught in the high school section. I'm about to get my university diploma and as soon as I get it, I'll start thinking in a MA and work teaching here in California. I also loooove French! I've studied it since I was a teenager It's such a beautiful language! Hope I'll teach soon! That was one of the reasons I was promoted from teaching in junior high to teach in high school because French is taught there. My personal life? I'm single and have a 3 year-old named Josue (Joshua in English). Love him sooo much!!! I love seeing him grow and learn more everyday. I'll soon have a baby girl in August! So excited!
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Mmmm, not right now. I can't think of anything ><
