What got you into cosplay?
I just figured I should try it out.
What was your first costume and why?
First at all was male-type Maze, because I had no sewing skills at all. Then I busted out the sewing machine, fooled around with it for a few days, and then made a Touga costume.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Spike Spiegel (version 2), because it came out so well, is quite comfortable, and was pretty popular.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Probably the Skull Knight from Berserk.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Hrm... Winning at Otakon 2001 was pretty damn awesome. I think just in general meeting other cosplayers and getting into the hobby is the best part, though.
Do you participate in masquerades?
On occasion. I love doing it, but it's not something I can do all the time.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Winning at Otakon one year, though my first real cosplay at Animazement 99 probably was the biggest rush for me.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I have won for skits, though none for costumes in particular. Got a hall cosplay award, though, for Spike.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm between undergraduate and grad school, and I actually love my job. Anime and manga are my biggest hobbies, though I'm also generally interested in television and theater, scifi, and a dab of sciences.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'm almost always willing to meet new people. I'm pretty open to new experiences, but some things just don't jive with me, so I should probably say "most things."
