About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
I finally remembered! My first convention, Anime Expo 2006. I saw people dressed up and said "I WANT TO DO THAT." So I did. lol.
What was your first costume and why?
Oh wow XD My first costume was Gojyo Sha from Saiyuki...it was a semi-fail cosplay, but it was a lot of fun and I'll never forget how disproportional my shakujou was (let me tell you it almost reached 8 feet XD). I cosplayed him because Saiyuki was my favorite manga at the time, and I always have had an affinity for the read-haired pervs XDD
What is your favorite costume and why?
In making a ton of cosplays, I have to say I have a real love for my Lal Mirch cosplay. I spent a LOT of time on her, and it was nice at AX '10 for people to compliment and ask how I made certain parts. I also really like my Conchita cosplay for its feminine aspects, and Date because he's a BLAST with his personality.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Catherine Sforza from Trinity Blood. I think the hat calls out to me, haha. I want to try to do another video game cosplay later in life as well.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I think a mix between Fanime 2010 and hanging with my friends at AX 2011. The laughter, memories, and new friends have been such a pleasure to me, and I can't wait to make more memories! <3
Do you participate in masquerades?
I do when I feel like it...recently I've been on a roll, but I think that's about to change, haha.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Fanime's masquerades are my best--Gintama and Basara Banter! :]
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
YES! Accomplishment unlocked. Thus far, best novice craftsmanship. It's a start :]
Tell us a little about yourself
I plan on majoring in product design, but I have a lot of activities outside of classes that include working for fashion shows and ballet folklorico. I recently was hired at a costume shop to make costumes for drama productions at my school, so I have a lot of things to learn about cosplay. I am a Socal based cosplayer, but I find that I like the Norcal scene more.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Cosplay is not about pageviews, Internet fame or drama. It is about the process and completion, and achieving self-discovery and happiness through other facades. Basically, I do this for FUN. :D
My favorite anime
Uhh...Pokemon (it was my first taste of anime!), FMA, Trinity Blood, Eden of the East, Umineko, PANTY AND STOCKING WITH GARTERBELT!!, Ookiku Furikabate, among others.
My favorite game(s)
I have a small addiction to Pokemon and Ace Attorney games. I also play TWEWY, and have decent DDR moves, but I don't do much gaming.
My favorite book(s)
I don't have as many favorite books as I do authors, which include Isabelle Allende, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Franz Kafka.
My favorite character(s)
Too. Many. To count. xD
My favorite movies(s)
I am really random in movies--Ponyo, Classic Pokemon/Digimon movies (mainly the first ones, haha), Ironman, Mean Girls, Nightmare Before Christmas, and INCEPTION <3
My favorite actors/actresses
Robert Downey Jr and Joseph Gorden Levitt. I could live off their movies, haha.
