What got you into cosplay?
My obsession with anime, and the fact that my mom’s old sewing machine was still in working condition.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Asuka Langley Sohryu’s school uniform. I’d finally seen Evangelion and thought it’d be fun to dress up as someone with as much spirit as Asuka. That, and the fact that I’d never really sewn much before, so I wanted to do something that wouldn’t be impossible at my skill level.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume is my Queen Beryl costume. I haven’t seen a lot of people cosplay as her, so I feel like it’s something really unique. I was really pleased with how it turned out and feel it’s my best costume so far. Everyone who sees me wearing it has a great reaction to it also, which makes all the work I've put into it completely worth it. And I adore all things involving Sailor Moon, so that helps make it my favorite too.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Alcione from Magic Knights Rayearth. Her outfit is awesome. It's also becoming my goal to cosplay as many anime villans as I can. ;)
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Well, going to Katsucon '04 and Otakon '04 as Queen Beryl was a great experience. I got to have my picture taken with the best group of people dressed as her four generals at Katsucon. And everyone at Otakon who loved my costume made all the hard work feel worth it. Also, making a hakama with my roommate/friend before the convention for her Kikyou costume ranks pretty high on the list, too.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not yet, but I plan to start soon.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
nope, not yet.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm working as a mechanical engineer for DRS, which no one has probably ever heard of. ;) As for hobbies, well, costuming is a big one. I also like to draw and write stories.
