About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
I joined the Anime Club at my high school. They planned a trip to Anime Expo, and I had seen people dressed up, so I wanted to give it a shot. I don't remember EXACTLY how I got into cosplay, but that's the gist of it.
What was your first costume and why?
Rinoa Heartilly from Final Fantasy 8. I was a total n00b, loved the character, and thought the CosPlay looked easy. (It still needs work to this day)
What is your favorite costume and why?
I have so many; I really can't pick favorites. They're all special to me in one way or another.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Sooo manyyyyyy...~
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Again, I have many. Rinoa at my first convention (AX05) was pretty memorable. My first "really good" cosplay as Edward Elric, back when Fullmetal Alchemist was new, was pretty darn memorable. Emma Frost at the X-Men Origins: Wolverine premiere was pretty memorable. I'll go with Edward. I still love telling stories about how awesome it was to have fangirls. Before FMA became "yesterday's news" and fangirls just didn't go crazy over Ed like they used to...
Do you participate in masquerades?
I started at Saboten Con 2009 and have hardly stopped--I enter Masquerades every chance I get. I have terrible stage fright, but it's all worth it in the end when my friends and I can make people laugh.
What was your best masquerade experience?
I've loved every single one. My/our skits always get a great audience reaction. It's certainly more about the rush and making the audience laugh (I prefer funny skits), but I won't lie...it felt great the first time my group won an award with our skit (Taiyou Con 2011, Best in Novice). I'm now a Journeyman thanks to that, but it's only further proof that I don't care if we win or lose--it took six years to win my first real award. xD
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes! As stated above, Taiyou Con was the first win--my girlfriend, little sis and I won Best in Novice Division with our skit, "Trancy Dance Lessons" (it can be found on YouTube: SoaringVisionsPro and/or AmaraSan). Also won "Best Cross-Over" with a Kingdom Hearts+Kuroshitsuji skit (also on my personal YouTube, AmaraSan). I've also placed in Anime Fests (held in local comic book stores); recently won first place and a free ticket to Saboten Con 2011! :'3 I was honored.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am not currently in school. Yes, I do have a family. Currently looking for a job, but I do administrative work from time to time. My hobbies mainly include sewing, photography, reading/writing, swimming...and so on.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
