// What got you into cosplay? //
I was invited by my sister to go to A-Kon. She wanted me to be Zelda at first (to fit with a SSB Brawl group), and I was alright with that at first. Then I got to thinking that I didn't really feel like I had a connection with Zelda as a character, so I decided to go with Tira from Soul Calibur. I had a great time creating this costume, and I'll continue perfecting it and learning about the craft.
// What was your first costume and why?//
I chose Tira because 1) I'm a fan of the SC series, 2) Tira is my "default fighter", and 3) she's bat shit crazy. What drew me to Tira initially was her radical fighting style. It was unlike anything I've seen in the SC games. It was different, so I began using her and learning her moves. Then I learned more about her past and personalities. The fact that she has such a constrasting dual nature really appealed to me. She's unpredictable, indecisive, happy, gloomy, deadly, and totally devoted to her task.
// Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make? //
I would love to cosplay Ashlotte one day. Her design is really cool, what with the Iron Maiden influence and all. It's so complex though. If I ever do it, I'd love to have working gears on the abdomen that actually *move*. That would be epic.
// Do you participate in masquerades? //
Yes I did my first one at A-Kon 20 and it was so much fun. XD The response I got was overwhelming.
// Have you won any awards for your costumes? //
No, but if I do win something that would be awesome. If I don't, I'll still cosplay. :P
// Tell us a little about yourself //
I work as a web developer and freelance graphic designer, and I love it. I never studied costuming while in college, but I do know how to do embroidery, crochet, and knitting. This is my first time using a sewing machine, and honestly, I'm surprised with how quickly I've picked it up!
