About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
My friend Bonnie (Comechatcha) was really the first one to introduce me to cosplay, though I'd always wanted to ever since I knew such a thing existed. She helped me out a lot costume-wise, and the time and effort she puts into her costumes is inspiring, in a sense. xD Other than that, I do a lot of theater, so I'm used to dressing up and acting like someone completely different in front of complete strangers. I love it. :D
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Integra (the Anime version) from Hellsing (a costume which I have since improved upon and made alterations to). Last year, about three months prior to Sakura Con, Bonnie told me that she was cosplaying as Walter, and she said I should go as Integra. My friend Ariel went as Alucard. It was fun. ^^
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume would have to be Haruko from FLCL, because wearing it makes me look so insanely different from how I do normally, and the character herself is very...out-there. When I cosplay Integra, I don't have to wear a wig or change the color of my eyes (they're grey, not blue, but no one seems to notice and/or care. XD). It's really different when I cosplay Haruko, because the change in my appearance is so drastic. Plus, I get to pose baseball-swing style with my fake Rickenbacker bass and make crazy-eyes at the camera. And pick my nose in public. That's always a plus.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'd like to improve further upon the ones I have currently, for one thing. I'd really like for my Haruko top to be some sort of leather-ish thing, because I've seen it done and it always turns out looking awesome. And I really need to make a rist cuff-thing for the same costume that doesn't fall apart constantly and looks more accurate, though people don't seem to care much about it. XD I also might want to look into making an OVA Integra outfit, because there is seriously no love for Anime Integra. XD Other than that, my friend Kate and I intend to cosplay Girl! versions of our OCs sometime in the future. That will be insanely fun. :D
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
At my first convention, (Sakura Con 2008), it was definitely getting picked up and carried potato-sack style across a huge room by an almost six-foot-tall Blood Seras when I was cosplaying Integra. Or when the same cosplayer stopped me in the middle of the exhibition hall earlier that day as Anderplant and asked if someone could take our picture, because my lack of height was apparently perfect. XD This year, it would have to be all of the random times during which I was sitting up against a wall, cosplaying Haruko, waiting for friends of mine and resting my feet. Seemingly endless numbers of people would recognize me and ask if they could take my picture, as well as give me random hugs, begging me not to make robots come out of their heads by swearing they hadn't been thinking inappropriate thoughts. XD Also, a katamari took my picture with a very nice-looking camera. That was pretty special, too. :3
Do you participate in masquerades?
No, but I most certainly will next year! I think I'll enjoy the masquerade ball a great deal more than the rave-esque thing. At least my feet will. Four-inch heel gogo boots can drive you to the brink of insanity. Dr.Scholls next time, for sure. D:
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I have yet to participate in any sort of cosplay contest- mind you, I'm still very new at this. XD I do hope to someday, though! That would be insanely fun.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently a Junior in High School. XD I love to draw (I've got a deviantART account: =Mozart-the-Cat), write stories/ comics, read, etc. I do tabletop gaming similar to D&D, called "Mage", with some friends of mine, and enjoy hanging out with them in general. :D I have a cat, too. Her name is Mozart.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
In my spare time, I hunt the ever-illusive-three-headed azure turtle off the coast of Arizona.
My favorite anime
I obviously like Hellsing and FLCL (a random combination if ever there was one), but there are a number of others that I also enjoy immensly. Azumanga Daioh, Fullmetal Alchemist, Axis Powers Hetalia, and ANYTHING by Miyazaki are among my favorites.
My favorite game(s)
Soul Calibur IV and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I have this thing with four, apparently. XD Also, the Kingdom Hearts series. And Harvest Moon. 'Cause who doesn't love Harvest Moon?
My favorite book(s)
There are far too many. Not Twilight, I can tell you that much. Though it's HILARIOUS to read those books out-loud dramatically with friends. Anything from the 1800s I'm almost guaranteed to love automatically.
My favorite character(s)
Again, I obviously like the characters I cosplay, because I wouldn't cosplay them otherwise. XD Characters from the aforementioned anime are also on the list of favorites.
My favorite movies(s)
Anime-wise, Howl's Moving Castle has to be my absolute favorite. And AGAIN, anything by Miyazaki is awesomesauce on a stick.
