What got you into cosplay?
Well I'd always been a fan of anime and video games, although I didn't know that there was an entire fan culture dedicated to these things for years. I also always loved costumes. I would wear my long blond hair in Usagi style odangos but I honestly just thought I was a dork and a bit of a weirdo. When I moved in 2001 my friend introduced me to my mirror image, only more advanced. She had played more games, seen more anime and grabbed hold of me and took me on a wild Junior High ride consisting of almost nothing but band and J-culture. We found a few friends older than us who got us deeper and deeper into the realm of nerd and we soon began reading manga and my friend even got me into online games. When we heard about a convention in Columbus we KNEW we HAD to go. We worked our asses off to make our very first costumes and thought we'd be the only ones there in outfits and that we'd feel odd and misplaced. This was Ohayocon. We were WRONG. After that we fell so in love with cosplaying that we jumped straight to our second con and we haven't turned back since.
What was your first costume and why?
Selphie Tilmitt =D FFX was my first Final Fantasy played (other than pricking around on the old Nintendo ones that I don't even remember) and I originally wanted to be Yuna, I really admired her. But my friend Chelsie started talking to me about roleplaying and since I loved to write, she got me into an FF8 one. I had the choice between Selphie and Quistis and I chose Selphie because I was drawn to her. After playing the game and rping as her I was SO IN LOVE. She was just like me and to this day just as many people call me Selphie as they do Jessica. The outfit was easier, the character was more me and in a matter of hours and some yellow fabric, I was set.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My Selphie costume just because! It was my first costume and I hold it very dear to my heart. It's gotten me the most love, recognition and con recognizability. It's almost become more of a personality than a costume, in a way. Not to sound like I have multiple personality disorder but that's actually just the opposite. I match Selphie's character so well that slipping on that dress and zipping up those boots just fills me with a rush that brings all of that out.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Penelo from FF12. Favorite costume design ever and the hardest I've ever consider. I'd love to make it That'd be awesome. I'd also like to do lots of ballgowns and large, intricate costumes. What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Ohayocon 4. My first cosplay I was SO scared, but it was so awesome! I had a great time!! I love all the friends I met there +*glomps you all*+ Yes, that was my first glomp-fest also. But aside from that maybe Colossalcon, spending time with my best friend Yuffie. Or being at the very first Fieldcon, the outdoor anime convention. Or maybe Ohayocon VI since it was my first con without my parents. A and G Ohio was my 18th birthday and my friends were running it (and I staffed) Tekkoshocon was the first con I staffed and I loved it. All of my RBG cons were fantastic. Sugoi 06 was where I met the love of my life. Out of almost 20 conventions... they're all memorable.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Ohayocon 2004- Hall Cosplay as Selphie, no awards. Sugoicon 2004- FF7AC Group, no awards. Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Release Party- Luna Lovegood, third place adult costume contest. Sugoicon 2007- Group entry as Pokemon (Nurse Joy), no awards. A and G Ohio staff skit 2008- Pokemon Fat Ash skit, sheer awesomeness.
What was your best masquerade experience?
The Animation and Gaming Ohio's staff skit. Brock had to sing "Do I creep you out?" to me as Nurse Joy XD Epic.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Just the third place for Luna Lovegood so far. I've been told by judges I could win as Nurse Joy if I entered separately but I hate my wig and shoes so I'm gonna tweak them first.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently (As of Feb, 2008) a Senior at a small school in southern Ohio and eighteen. My family is effing awesome though they get on my nerves. I LOVE my friends. I love music. I love being a gamer girl. It pisses me off when people mess up my order. I'm weird. I know. I'm a huge band geek. I love to sing, even though I can't. I play a ton of instruments. I love my boyfriend, Ryan I need a better sewing machine. That was random.

My favorite anime
Oh em geeeee. I have such a bad memory I could never write them all down. I love shojos and frilly romantic fluff. Sailor Moon still makes me cry and I still laugh like a nerd at Pokemon.
My favorite game(s)
I've yet to put a game in my hands other than Ultima Online that I DIDN'T like. There's still so many out there for me to play though!!!
My favorite book(s)
HARRY POTTER. Ok, now that that's out of my system. My favorite book since I was about 10 has been Ella Enchanted and it hasn't changed. Also I'm a developing manga nut. I'm slowly expanding my collection and I'm loving things like Angel Sanctuary, Nana and the Kingdom Hearts manga. I've got more but I can't think of them >.<
My favorite character(s)
Selphie, no explanation needed. I just love everything about her!!! I've actually been told that I'm the closest thing walking this earth TO her. But that's silly. ^o^ Still makes me swell with pride, though. Yuna, I've always respected and admired her as a daughter, a leader, a lover and a woman in general. I'm weird, I know. Tifa and Yuffie have to go together because for some reason I can't mention one without the other Sephiroth.... Just cuz he stabbed Aeris ~.^ Luna Lovegood- Best Harry Potter character ever Chigusa from BR- Any chick that crotch stabs a pervert to death is a hero in my book Irvine Kinneas- calm, cool, collected, gorgeous, loves his woman more than anything and has a sense of what's right and wrong. GOTTA love it Most of the Sailor Moon cast for various reasons. Ok I better stop, though I have about fifty million more to be named. I <3 perky, bubbly and awkward characters. Smooth romantics also get me.

Excel Saga, all the Sailor Moon movies, FF7AC, Harry Potter. I just kinda watch the usual dorky shit. But my all time absolute favorite has got to be MOULIN ROUGE! /die. Love that movie.
