What got you into cosplay?
Seeing people dressed up as their favorite characters, all having fun together.
I thought it looked pretty neat! I had always loved dressing up as a kid, so I wanted to be part of it.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Near from Death Note. I had never attended an anime convention before (only comic conventions), and I had never dressed up publicly. So, of course since I was going to Anime Expo, I had to wear a costume. I decided on Near because, at the time, he was my favorite character and it was also something easy that I could do without hassle, since I had no clue about sewing at the time.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume to wear is Loki, hands down. But my favorite costume I've made is Gordon Freeman.
Loki is always a joy to wear, with all the reactions from fangirls and little kids, and just the fact that I get to play my favorite character for a day.
Gordon Freeman's armor was my first full armor suit, and as much difficulty I faced making it, I had a great time, and it taught me a lot.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I have a few dream costumes, varying from armor suits to full on mecha gear.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
When I was cosplaying Loki for Free Comic Book Day in 2013, a little girl had called out my name when I was leaving the store. She had yelled, "Loki!" and was waving at me. So of course, I waved back and she got all excited.
A few minutes later, as I was talking to my Kid Loki, the little girl and her parents walk up, and the little girl looks at me and asks, "Loki, can I take a picture with you!?", and I nod, dying of excitement and cuteness. I handed her my tesseract for her to hold, which made her tear up and smile widely. After she took the photo with me, she ran over to her parents, and started doing a little dance while yelling, "I got a photo with Loki!"
AND THIS IS WHY I LIKE TO COSPLAY COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Always! I think that's the best part of conventions. Not only for competing in your hard made costumes, but meeting so many great people.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Every one that I have done. But, I think my most favorite was Anime Expo's 2013 masquerade.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Motor City Comic Con 2013- Best in Division for Loki.
Go!Daikocon 2013- Judges Award for Dark Pit.
Detroit Fanfare 2013- Best Male Hero award for Gordon Freeman.
