What got you into cosplay?
Hm, that is quite complicated since I do not really view myself as a "cosplayer". I would better say that I only am a person that simply gives life to his favorite character.
What was your first costume and why?
Raphael Sorel from SoulCalibur. He is my favorite character of any games, because I do recognize myself a lot inside this one. People keep telling me that I have way too much in common with the character; both in the physical, mental and informative way. I got curious and took a look at the character while playing the game for the first time... and this was at this exact moment that the "bringing alive" idea went to me.
What is your favorite costume and why?
That I have made so far, it would currently be the outfit of SoulCalibur IV. The vampiric, gothic, aristocrat one is my favorite outfit design of all he has since his debuts in the SoulCalibur series. The details are really amazing and all the bat accessories make it more original! Since I wasn't plain satisfied with the first version I did, I am actually making another one.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Well, all Raphael's outfits or at least, all classic versions! So far, it's a dream that came true, but I also am thinking of doing some second outfits of the character. I am planning my things about it.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
My very first passage in a convention. I really will remember all the people that wanted pictures at each five steps I did and all beautiful and nice comments I received by each person who did! Even if the costume was still in progress, I wouldn't think that I would have been that famous. This was really enjoyable!
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes, now that I've tried one time, I will definitely do others. I am actually competing in the Master division.
What was your best masquerade experience?
The one I did at G-Anime 2010, in Canada. We amused the public so much! We had sound problems and has I wanted to retire, the staff told us to try at least something fast. In the end, we did a silent improvised sketch at the last minute and we won "Best in Show" for it!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Yes, I won some, also with three Best in Show. I also got featured in Cosmode magazine #35.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am actually competing internationally in the Artisan level and locally in the Master one. I speak French as a first language and admire the SoulCalibur series and Super Mario!
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Originality is the best key to success. Anything is useful while making a project, absolutely anything!
