About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
While I've always loved dressing up as characters, I didn't actually know what cosplay was until I went to my first convention - Sakura Con 2007. My mom taught me to sew when I was a wee babby, and I have been involved in theatre for a majority of my life, so cosplaying as a hobby just sort of fits.
What was your first costume and why?
My first official cosplay was Toph Bei Fong from Avatar: The Last Airbender. Sakura Con was my first anime convention, and I knew next to nothing about any of the few series I had actually seen. I was much more comfortable with the show Avatar, and thought that while it wasn't "anime" it was close enough. I didn't feel that I could pull off my #1 favorite character, Sokka, so I chose my next favorite character. I had a blast as her, and I even ran into another Toph, and got to meet an Aang. It was definitely a great first experience.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume to date is Jacuzzi Splot from Baccano! I have so much in common with his character it's crazy, and cosplaying from my favorite show doesn't hurt either. I always love finding other Baccano! cosplayers and getting to meet them.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'd love to make Violet Baudelaire's dress and coat from A Series of Unfortunate Events. I'm a huge fan of the book series, and I love the entire look of the film. I'm waiting until I have the time, patience, skills, and money to make it the way I want. One day...
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
My most memorable experience has definitely been running into the most wonderful Baccano! group at Sakura Con 2011. I had so much fun interacting with them in character, and I made so many lovely friends.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I've never done it before, but I'd like to! I even have a few ideas...
Tell us a little about yourself
I recently graduated from my university, with a BA in Theatre Arts and an emphasis in costume design and construction. I absolutely love theatre, both technology and performance. I have two cats, Chai and Navi, and they are sweethearts. I love improv, piano, argyle, purple, films, amusement parks, tea parties, and sidekicks.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I love saltwater fish.
