What got you into cosplay?
Sailor Moon was originally what got me into anime, so one Halloween my friends and I Trick or Treated as the Inner Senshi. We went to Anime Expo the following year, and I wore my Halloween costume just for the heck of it... only to find that EVERYONE was dressing up! Once I discovered the cosplay community, I was pretty much hooked ^^.
What was your first costume and why?
I like to think that my first -real- cosplay was Thief Rikku in 2004, because it's the first one I made entirely by myself. As for why I cosplayed her, I was about half-way through playing X2 at the time, and simply loved her character design... and since I was new to the cosplay scene I had no idea how freaking over-cosplayed she was ^^;;
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite costume to date would have to be my Ragnarok Online Dancer. I was very happy with every aspect of the costume, and the character was very special to me, since in a sense it really -was- me! There were some people in that game that only knew me as that little sprite, so it was fun to become that character in real life as well. Plus, the Dancer sprites are so CUTE!!! <3
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I would love to do Haydee's Opera Gown from Gankutsuo, but I refuse to do it until I can make myself GLOWWWW. I've actually figured out how I want to do it... I just need to wait til I can justify it financially T 3T;;.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Being able to participate in masquerades is my favorite part of cosplay by far =). My fabulous group, Underground Cosplay, is constantly trying to come up with absurd ideas for costumes and skits; we just love to be ridiculous and have fun! Plus there's nothing quite like having all your hard work come to fruition in one glorious moment on stage... *dreamy sigh.* I just love it <3.
What was your best masquerade experience?
Performing with my friends in masquerades is always memorable and amazing, but the most memorable of all of our skits would probably have to be our performance in the Anime Expo '06 masquerade. To this day, I can hardly believe we convinced my mild mannered, straight laced hubby to dance around in spandex. It was priceless. xD
Tell us a little about yourself
I work full time as a graphic designer at a spiffy studio that hides inside a house, PlainJoe Studios. We do a lot of work for non-profit organizations and churches, which is really a blessing to be a part of ^^. I'm also taking college courses at Cal Poly Pomona; I'm just a senior project away from graduating with a degree in graphic design (thank god, I'm so sick of school ;____;). And most importantly, I am also a newlywed :D!! My hunnybee, best friend and fellow cosplayer, Firien and I tied the knot on January 13th of 2007 <333. We just moved into our first house in Corona, CA, which the Undergrounders now frequent for various cosplay antics ^___^.
