What got you into cosplay?
I used to make costumes for renaissance festivals but that got really boring. I met my husband before A-kon that year and I saw all the cosplayers and just had to have a costume for AnimeFEST later that summer.
What was your first costume and why?
My first was Lain since that was the first anime that my husband got me into, but I never wore it anywhere cause it wasn't very good. So that's where I got my nickname. The first costume I wore in public was Battle Angel Alita. It was the first manga that I read and I fell in love with her immediately. She's so innocent and a total badass. I love being Alita.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Alita is also my favorite costume though I do love my Naru costume so I can pair with my Husband as Seta.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I'm working on plans for a Motorball Alita and I really hope they become reality
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Anyone recognizing me as Alita is totally memorable. It doesn't happen very often so it's really exciting.
Do you participate in masquerades?
My first masquerade was at A-kon 16. I really didn't enjoy it much. I had to spend so much time in line and waiting through the skits to do my walk-on. It just wasn't that much fun for me so I likely won't do it again.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Sadly no, but participating in more than one contest would better my chances wouldn't it? hmmm something to think about.
Tell us a little about yourself
I graduated from the University of North Texas in May of 2008 and am a certified art teacher. I have a wonderful husband who got me into anime and is now thinking that he has created some sort of insane cosplay monster. My mother, father and younger sister are a little creeped out by my cosplay antics especially my "Alita head" which my mother refuses to sit next to.
