About Me / Q&A

What got you into cosplay?
My older sister actually did. I bought the second Tales of Symphonia game this year (2009) for the Wii just because it had multi-player abilities and we fell in love with it. After beating it and the original gamecube version, we talked about cosplaying some of our favorite characters. We went full steam ever since and its been a lot of fun.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was Decus from Tales of Symphonia 2: Dawn of a New World. I picked Decus after originally planning on going as Lloyd. I decided on Decus because he was eccentric and had hilarious mannerisms that just seemed to fit my persona much more. Plus his iron maiden is amazing and I've come to realize I love to cosplay characters with crazy props. It is so much fun to create some very elaborate that most people don't go into. It's like uncharted territory and I'm having a lot of fun running through it.
What is your favorite costume and why?
That's a tough question. My taste has changed quite dramatically since I started cosplaying. I've actually started to crossplay quite a bit now and I find that to be more enjoyable than dressing up as a male character. Right now, though, I would say my favorite cosplay is Jo Carpenter from Burst Angel. I love the outfit and the character.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I don't have a dream cosplay in the sense that there is one costume or character I'm dying to be over anything else, but my dream cosplay would most certainly be something with one or more gigantic and otherwise difficult props. I love building props more than anything else.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
It's hard to say what has been the most memorable moment I've had so far, but I would have to say that finally getting a photo shoot with an Alice in my Decus outfit at Sakura-con 2010 was probably one of my favorite. It's one of the few cons that not only had Tales of Symphonia cosplayers, but nearly every character from it too.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not yet, but our group has some great ideas that I would love to see turn into a fantastic masquerade someday.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I have not.
Tell us a little about yourself
A little about myself, huh? Hmm, well not much to say. Most of my time is spent in school or doing homework for said school. I graduate from college in the Fall of 2009 and plan to continue my education at a law school that I have yet to decide on. I just recently got into cosplay by one of my older sisters and a few friends, though I've loved video games and anime since forever. What little free time I do have outside of school and work is spent with close friends, my sister (yes we DO get along well) and the occasional trip to play paintball, though that is rare due to college making me poor.
My favorite game(s)
I have a lot of games I love, but some that come to mind: Earthbound Resident Evil 1-4 Mario Kart Super Mario Bros. 3 Metal Slug Golden Eye Perfect Dark (N64 version) Tales of Symphonia 1-2 Dig Dug
My favorite movies(s)
I think my favorite movie of all time is still Black hawk Down. It is one of those few war movies that stays true to history (Yes, the U.S. DOES lose wars) and really captures the horrors of war time. It plays through the common soldier's point-of-view, their struggles, the sacrifices of being a hero, and the torments they endure. I've seen it a dozen times, but it still gets to me. It truly is a fantastic piece of cinema.
My favorite actors/actresses
I don't typically follow most actors and actresses, so I don't really have any favorites that come to mind.
