What got you into cosplay?
My friends loved anime, and I had only really watched some Gundam, Pokemon, and all of Miyazaki's movies. I decided to tag along with them to Otakon and it turns out once I got into it, I liked making the costumes and I really got into anime again.
What was your first costume and why?
Ashitaka from Mononoke-Hime: He is fairly straightforward, had my hair, and I knew the movie.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Pyro is mad fun. You get to act goofy and everyone loves it. I spent a lot of time on it and I think it turned out well, except for the grenade belt. I premiered it at Otakon '10 which may have not been a good idea seeing as the suit is vinyl and the shoot was outside in the middle of a Baltimore summer. 100 and humid.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Some dude came up to me while I was Ashitaka and, while breathing heavily, asked for a picture. While he was taking it, he panted "Princess. Mononoke. Is a quality. Motion picture." That was directly after a camera malfunction caused my left arm to be mashed around some 15 year old girl's chest for ten minutes while the problem was fixed... Sketchy day.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am an electromechanical engineer and I'm hoping to start more intentionally incorporating that into cosplays.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I take commissions. I don't own a serger so my seams and such aren't professional quality, but it'll look right and my prices aren't the 500% markup they have.
My favorite anime
Gurren Lagann, FLCL, Attack on Titan, Sword Art Online
