What got you into cosplay?
One summer a friend of mine randomly brought up conventions, saying that we should go to one and dress up. Thinking back, it could have been a joke, but I was intrigued so I immediately started looking up cosplay photos on the web. Next thing I know, I'm off to my first convention with her anime club in a makeshift costume.
What was your first costume and why?
My first cosplay was Chii's bakery outfit. Chobits was the manga I was reading at the time and I thought she was so adorable. I didn't realize there would be so many other Chiis (Chobits was at the peak of its popularity) and was a little disappointed seeing 25 other mes, but I had tons of fun anyway.
What is your favorite costume and why?
Even though it's wasn't for a convention, my zombie outfit for Halloween was definitely my best experience being in costume. The reactions from everyone made the 3 hours I spent standing in my underwear in the shared, co-ed bathroom so worth it. Though they took time, my latex wounds ended up looking pretty real. They made a lot of people sick, which was great, obviously. Also, try explaining to the cleaning lady why there is fake blood and muddy hand prints absolutely EVERYWHERE. The residence bathroom looked like a murder scene.

What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Just the attention my first costume received. I couldn't take more than 5 steps without being asked for a picture and/or hug. The people with me were not too amused, because it made it impossible to travel around the con at a reasonable pace.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I haven't the courage.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Bakery Chii won a bunch of Hall Cosplay awards, but that's about it.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently in limbo as far as schooling goes, but I help run the video game club at Guelph University, acting currently as the president. I live Guelph with a whole bunch of people, housemates, rabbits and a single cat. Only one person and the rabbits belong to me. I don't have a job just yet, but I'm sure I would hate it if I did. I'm pretty obsessed with video games, liking a good RPG or survival horror over most else. I finally have a new computer, after owning the same one for 6 years, so I'm excited to finally play this generation of games! Not that I mind playing Morrowind and KotOR forever too much. Lastly, thunderstorms are the best kind of weather, and if I could I would live underwater.
