What got you into cosplay?
I'd been interested in cosplay for awhile and knew a few people who where already into it and seemed to enjoy it although I had never seen them actually in cosplay. I've always loved dressing up and have always loved working with my hands. Sewing was never something I was phenomenal at and I'm still learning but sewing is also just one of those things I've always Wanted to be good at.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was a gijinka of Mightyena from Pokemon. I love the pokemon and a closet cosplay was a quick, cheap, easy way to try and segway into cosplaying without being immediately berated by my parents for biting off more than I could chew.
What is your favorite costume and why?
If Nightmare Moon were fully complete I would definitely say her but she isn't so I'm going to go with Marceline.
Marceline is my favorite because even though you could count the times I got recognized as my character on a single hand the costume I chose was really, Really, obscure. She literally is only wearing it on screen for maybe two minutes in a single episode. Being recognized at all was a huge thrill considering the costume, especially with how many Homestucks were walking around! XD
It's still a closet cosplay but I had to find all the pieces because I didn't already own them and even now I'll sometimes wear the outfit without the wig or makeup just for hanging out with friends.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Several! I think My top one, simply because I've had it the longest, would have to be Yuuko from XXXHolic OR The Clow Card The Dark from Cardcaptor Sakura... or Fuu from Magic Knight Rayearth... most of them are CLAMP or comic book characters but I think I'll stop there while I still can.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I think I'll call it: A Lesson In Mediocrity. AUSA 2011 I tried to make three costumes while also attending college classes... or rather not attending college classes. I still didn't get any work down until the week before the con and omfg. Never again. I'll stick to summer conventions thank you very much, or if I go to winter ones I'll reuse cosplays.
It's not a happy memory per se, but it taught me just how bad my time management skills have gotten and to really evaluate what I want to do, and whether I can actually do it based on time, money, and skill. I finished all three costumes enough to be worn, but never again, never again.
Do you participate in masquerades?
No, I don't, most of my cosplays have been closet cosplays so far or aren't official designs, or aren't actually from anime. SO, I'm not exactly eligible to participate.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm in college, next year I'll be graduating with a Major in English, and minors in IT and Theatre. I have a part time job at my campus bookstore although they never give me hours and are paying me minimum wage so I don't think that is going to last very long.
My hobbies are writing, fanfiction and original works, singing (although I have no training), reading, working with my hands, fishing and wilderness activities, annnnnnnnd saving money.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I think that gives you more than some of my friends know about me! Hahaha, I think I'll leave it at that.
My favorite anime
Cowboy Bebop, Fruits Basket, Ouran High School host Club, Ruroni Kenshin, Case Closed, and holy crap I can't remember anime that I've watched. alhgldfhgals;dkj
