What got you into cosplay?
The idea of running around as a favoured character absolutely thrilled me. It soon took over me completely and I've had a blast with the challenges of the art that -is- cosplay.
What was your first costume and why?
Quistis Trepe; Final Fantasy VII - I was entranced by her ingame story, and I also admired her intellegence, bravery, determination, leadership capabilities and I also adored her calm/caring dispostion. I also made her final weapon, the Save the Queen, just 'cause of my admiration.
What is your favorite costume and why?
That is tough... Any of the Rikku ones I guess. Rikku in general. She is a riot to run around as. Always a hoot to be so perky. ALSO, Any form of Cloud Strife is swiftly becoming a second favorite. He's so easy to make fun of, so we all usuaally make jokes at 'his' expense.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Oh, my list is always changing. Right now it is BOTH Lord Ryuu and Lady Karura of RG Veda in their full armor. :) Those will probably be my final outfits.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
I think... the year I made my Princess Peach cosplay. I got a little love and a lot of criticizm behind my back. But two things made it worthwhile: One was an old aquaintence of mine, who is usually quiet, bellowing out across the main hall at Ai-kon: "CHRISTINE! THAT'S AWESOME!" and giving me a thumbs-up. The other being at Hallowe'en that same year, where an excited young man in a Mario costume wanted to have a photo taken with me.
Do you participate in masquerades?
To an extent, yes. Skits used to terrify me. Not so much anymore as I stick to areas of humor.
What was your best masquerade experience?
For Ai-Kon '03, I did this skit called "Things Squall Would Never Say", as his Kingdom Hearts incarnation. The most memorable thing about that was I was SO completely nervous, I thought I did badly. Apparently everyone loved it. I -did- recall that the line "Hey Seifer... discipline me," got the most laughter, espescially from the fangirls. *laughs* Oh God was I a wreck after I walked off that stage.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
A few. Several 'Honorable Mentions' too.
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm currently in University, majoring in Anthropology & Archaeology.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Sure. Make costumes to fit -you-. Not the size of the character. Also, I believe that if you don't look 100% like the person you want to dress as, THAT IS OKAY. And I don't just mean weight or lack of - this also applies to hair colour and/or melanin type. [Look it up. Trying to be sensitve here.] You want to dress up as your favorite character? DO IT ^_^
My favorite anime
Get Backers, Vandread, Loveless, Trigun, NOIR, Excel Saga, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Digimon 01 & 02, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon, Devil Hunter Yohko, Tsubasa Resovoir Chronicle, Sousei No Aquarion,
My favorite game(s)
The Silent Hill series [sans 0 & 5], Castlevania: Lament of Innocence/Legacy of Darkness/Symphony of the Night/Order of Ecclesia, Final Fantasy VII & X-2, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Almost any 'Mario' title, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask/Twilight Princess, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2/Defiance, Haunting Ground, Dynasty Warriors 4,
My favorite book(s)
The Noble Dead Saga, Vampire Hunter D novels, Myst; The book of T'iana, The Historian, Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Journal of Abraham von Helsing, Resenting the Hero, The Enchanted Forest series, RGVeda manga,
My favorite character(s)
Cloud Strife in all his forms, Rikku from FFX, the idiot chosen himself aka Zelos Wilder of Tales of Symphonia, Princess Peach Toadstool, Wynn & Chane from the Noble Dead Saga,
My favorite movies(s)
Far too many to mention - and there's at least one favorite in nearly all genres! [Except 'Adult/Porn'. Eww.]
My favorite actors/actresses
A lot of voice actors/actresses would be in this list. I tend to respect them more because of my opinion that they have to work twice as hard to get across the emotion that their characters are going for. Live actors sometimes get distracted with everything else they have to do to 'act', and so voice/expression can easily lose it's effect. At least, that's what I think. [Anyone else ever cry during a dramatic, animated scene?]
