What got you into cosplay?
My Brother. Once good friends, A love of Anime, Manga, Aisia and Japan.
What was your first costume and why?
My First Costume was Kagero Of Ninja Scroll the Origional 1993 movie. I did this cosplay because she is one of my all time ultimate favorite characters and I relate to her both litterally and emotionally.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I don't have a favorite anything. But I love any costume quality made by a true Otaku (that's right I said it; OTAKU!!!), who loves their character and not only dresses as their character, but respects and portrays their character to the fullest through out the con they attend. I fully understand that otaku are considered WAY too much and TOO obsessed... but that's what I like. I have an obsessive compulsive disorder & I can apreaciate someone who cares too much. Because I care too much myself. I apreaciate all costumes made by hand, and all costumes made with a great deal of effort and care. Narutards and bleach brains be damned.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Many MANY in fact. Some, not even for myself.
I would love to see a really well done Ranma 1/2 combination pulled off by a set of twins. ferternal would be AMAZING. That would be a Ranma cos-play worth remembering.
I would like to do Rin from Blade of the Immortal, with my natural hair and a hand made set of her 'stinging wasp' blades. I would MAKE a Manji costume and swords to GIVE to anyone who would do and have the stature to pull off that cosplay with me. Definately a dream set.
I would REALLY love to do Suu from Clover. I mean with the FULL ON all metal super crafted ten foot wings. That would take FOR F*ING EVER... but i'd tottally do it... if given the oportunity and the rescources... & I'd LOVE to do Suu from Clover.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
The time I did Kitana from mortal kombat and had my first experience with getting mobbed by people like some kind of movie star. That was weird. I am used to doing kind of obscure characters that are tottally classic but not with the flow of the fad stream. So Older and more competent people recognise and apreaciate me but the youngins and the fad kids don't give me a seccond glance. When I did Kitanna I had to have an escourt just so I could travel more than five feet at a time without having to put all my stuff down and get in pose for another ten minute photo spree. It was awesome but definately different.
I remember the first time I saw someone do pyramid head at Kumoricon in 2006. I was SO EXCITED! I ended up ruining my picture w/ him where he was mock riping my skin off because I couldn't stop smiling I was so happy.
Durring my first con I was so bummed out because I did a SUPER CLASSIC character that EVERYONE knows about but apparently doesn't recognize on sight or even remember... unless they're Japanease and in their thirties. I was so sad by day 2 that no one got my cosplay that I was starting to get down on myself, but then this awesome older Japanease guy was like OMG! KAGERO FROM NINJA SCROLL! CAN I GET A PICTURE! & it made my whole F-ing year. I was so happy. It was my first con and one of my favorite experiences.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes of course.
I attended my first masquerade ball this last Sakura Con 2010 in seattle WA USA, As Violet from A series of unfortunate events.
But it was a huge dissapointment.
There was no attending photo booth. Once the event was finished the convention photo booth was long closed down.
the waltzing lesson was a Joke.
& the dance floor was not -easy access.
There was no mood lighting, the music was pitiful.
I've seen more interesting high school dances.
I have hope that not all masq balls are as drab. I will try a few more before giving up.
What was your best masquerade experience?
N/A, I've only attended one and I was not impressed
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
The first time I entered into a cosplay costume contest. I was passed up because of the intricasies of some of the other costumes. That didn't bother me. The thing that bothered me was that the girl who took the grand prize, had just basically chosen the most intricate costume she could find anywhere and made it! She did NOT know ANYTHING about her actuall character at all, and had NO respect or apreaciation for her character. It was awful.
The seccond time I arrived too late to enter my costume.
The third con I went to was in another country so I didn't even know how to enter.
My first official award for a costume occured this year (2010) at the Mnt Tabor theater in the Hawthorn district of Portland OR USA. I won the Dark Alice Ball costume contest for my version of 'Dark Alice'
