What got you into cosplay?
Followed a link, basically. Decided this looks like fun. Technically have cosplayed singers when doing these drag shows, but it's hard to get into because not many of the music groups I like have female singers. But I like a lot of anime and it would be fun to be some of my favorite characters.
What was your first costume and why?
I did a halfassed Ranma 1/2 female type a while back, then had an outfit made intending to be Tsubasa Kurenai (from a second season ep of Ranma) that came out looking more like Sailor Saturn. At least it's cute.. that's technically my first costume, and so far all I've done as there's not many events close by to go to.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
In drag, I fool people now and then, which is pretty memorable. The one pageant where for the talent I portrayed a homeless woman with a bottle, singing 'somewhere over the rainbow' surprised a lot of people too - I got more applause than the one who spent supposedly $2000 on her talent number.
Do you participate in masquerades?
If going out every week counts, I'm out and about.
What was your best masquerade experience?
well, there was the night I asked a girl to dance and ended up plastered together the rest of the night... I won't go any further, but we had fun after the club closed too.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
When I first started doing drag for fun, I won a couple of costume contests, at college and at a dance hall near the school. (that one it helped being the only one who'd shaved though). Outside of that, no, although I have done a few pageants and have won individual categories a couple of times.
Tell us a little about yourself
Work for myself, live at home because I am cheap, went to school ages ago. Hobbies range from dressing up to being online to building models to working on my cars...
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
Well, wish I had found this sooner. Lot of things Id like to have done different. Happy to talk to anyone, so if you have questions - feel free.
My favorite anime
I can get into anything with a decent story, but I've liked Inuyasha, Wolf's Rain, and a long list of others I've seen elsewhere. Have been following Chobits, Comic Party and Kalido Star on Anime Network recently (1/05). Would like to check out Ranma 1/2 somewhere, too, the manga have been fun to read (where the heck is that spring he fell into anyways, I want to visit!)
My favorite game(s)
Never was big on video games, I only have one game for the PC - no characters in it really. lol
My favorite book(s)
Too many to list - Stephen King and William W Johnstone are good authors.
My favorite character(s)
I tend to identify with characters who turn out not to be girls... you'd be surprised how many shows have an example somewhere along the way.
My favorite movies(s)
Anything from vintage John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart to good action stuff. Good new movies are few and far between though.
My favorite actors/actresses
See above... lol
