What got you into cosplay?
Well, I made some costumes for Halloween and for the Michigan Ren. Fest. and it just grew from there! I totally got into it though when I decided to make a Link costume from LoZ.
What was your first costume and why?
My first costume was an Oompa Loompa costume I made for Halloween. I guess I made it because I wasn't fond of the new Oompa Loompas in the Tim Burton film and I needed a Halloween costume. However, I didn't even get to wear it for that Halloween because our high school football team made it to the finals on Oct. 31st, and my cheerleading coach wouldn't let an Oompa Loompa cheer, lol. Needless to say, I had my 2004 Halloween costume made a year in advance. =)
What is your favorite costume and why?
Totally my Link costume. I never seem to be quite finished with it and I've probably put more money into its props/materials than any other project I've worked on. I do find myself wearing it around every once and awhile, though, while I'm working on the details for it! XD
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I have a huge list of costumes I'd LOVE to make!
Here's the ones I can think of so far:
~Don Bluth's Thumbelina - Main costume (She's tiny and has long hair - like me!)
~Don Bluth's Thumbelina - Butterfly costume from the Beetle Ball (It's so snazzy!)
~Dani (Danielle) Phantom - from Danny Phantom
~Britney, The Chipette - Middle Eastern Costume- from the Chipmunk Adventure
~Skull Kid - from Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time (he's such a crazy fellow)
~Princess Agitha - from Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (of all of the LoZ characters, I probably look the most like her.)
~Queen Rutela - from Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (she's so beautiful!)
~The Great Fairy - from Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess (If I EVER get the body to wear such a thing!)
~Deku Link - from Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask (that little guy is so damn adorable!)
~Rocky - from Rocky Horror Picture Show (Simply because I'd love to don a muscle body-suit and thrown on some golden spankies and go-go boots!)
~Sister Sarah Sanderson, from Hocus Pocus
~Princess Camille (ballroom gown), from Little Nemo
~Princess Tamina, Prince of Persia the Movie (Prayer outfit)
~"Gynecaladriel" (Amy Wong), Queen of the Water Nymphos, Futurama: Bender's Game
~Rapunzel, Disney's Tangled (It's the first Disney princess who I sort of resemble!!!)
I'm sure there are more to the list, but that is what I could think of offhand... So here's to my checklist!
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Definitely having people wanting to take pictures of/with me. It's especially crazy when I find a picture of me on a website, even when I never knew that picture was taken!
Do you participate in masquerades?
I haven't yet, but I would like to!
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
I kind of got an anti-award for my Strong Bad costume being so horrible after living out in our shed for a year, lol.
I did win a free round of putt-putt golf for being 'Crowd Favorite' for my Link costume at my local Renaissance Faire... if that counts, lol.
I recently got an Honorable Mention for Link in the Novice category at Youmacon 2010! =)
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm a full time student (I should just say I'm a professional student - seeing how it takes me forever to graduate even though I already have tons of credits.) I work two part time jobs and I also founded a professional performance company in my area, which will hopefully be running soon! In the little free time that I do have, I am a theater director for my old high school and a cheerleading coach for our rival high school.
I suppose my hobbies are making costumes for cosplay and for renaissance festivals as well as collecting currency from around the world and Legend of Zelda collector's items!
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I do commission work on occasion (Cinderella (for one customer), Renaissance, Legend of Zelda mostly.)
I usually have a million and a half projects going on all at once, but if you PM me I could probably work something out! =)
My favorite game(s)
~Anything based on Legend of Zelda (even the Tingle games are cool too!)
~The Professor Layton Series (they're so beautiful!)
~Rhythm Heaven is pretty darn addicting too...
My favorite book(s)
The Princess Bride, The Secret Garden, and the Shadow Children Series.
My favorite character(s)
Link will forever be my ultimate favorite character.
My friend once said that, given the chance to marry Link or be Link, I would BE Link and run off to kick some Ganon ass!
My favorite movies(s)
Princess Bride (of course), Moulin Rouge, Dead Poets Society, Role Models, Coraline, Dark Knight, Casper, Wall-E, Hocus Pocus, Get Over It, Hero of Time (The BMB LoZ movie, even though Nintendo shut it down), Benjamin Button (I never cried so much over a movie)...
There are plenty more, but this is just a weekend sampling, lol.
My favorite actors/actresses
I always tell my fiance that I would leave him to spend one glorious day with Ewan McGregor or Christina Ricci. (Jokingly of course... I'd come back to him the day after, lol.)
