What got you into cosplay?
I was eating at the Intercontinental Hotel with my family when I noticed several anime characters bombarding the place. I had never seen anything like it before and when I asked what was going on; they told me Anime Fest was being held at the hotel. I never knew about Anime Conventions until this encounter, and that's all it took for the next year for my friends and I to start going. I've continued to go to anime conventions ever since then.
What was your first costume and why?
I chose Sakura from Ninja Cadets because I was very fund of the anime. People had told me I looked and acted a little like her so I thought it would be perfect because I love ninjas, I would get to have a sword, and what's better than being princess on top of that? However, when I arrived at Anime Expo only two people knew whom I was and I was constantly confused with Misao from Rurouni Kenshin.
What is your favorite costume and why?
My favorite cosplay would be Chun Li from Street Fighter. I chose her because a group of friends and I decided to do a Street Fighter group and I've always played as Chun Li since Street Fighter II first came out for SNES. It was an awesome cosplay, and I was able to kick butt in it too.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I have several, a few that I would LOVE to do include: Alita from Battle Angel, Momo from Peach Girl, Battle Royale character, Ling Xiayu from Tekken, Xena, Seung Mina from Soul Calibur, and Sailor Jupiter.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
One fund memory I have is from A-Kon 20 when my friends and I posed as the characters from Street Fighter and after the young gentleman took a picture he told us not only that we had made his day, but we made his whole week.
Do you participate in masquerades?
I went to my first masquerade last year, but the music wasn't very good so I ended up leaving shortly after arriving, heh. ^^;
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm married and graduated from UNT with an English and Spanish bachelors degrees in hopes of some day becoming a college professor. I enjoy dancing, drawing, watching anime, and cosplaying. I work as a substitute for two different school districts.
