What got you into cosplay?
I've always loved dressing up, Halloween is my favorite holiday ^^ and I got into the anime scene after becoming obsessed with Sailormoon (of course) around age 11. I can't believe it's been 11 years! But yeah, cosplay is like halloween, but with anime-goodness, and all-year round!
What was your first costume and why?
Sailormoon, because cliche or no I love her. It sounds lame but SM was there for me through some really, really tough times in my young life when I really needed some female empowerment. I respect the hell out of Naoko for being one of the biggest unwitting feminists of the 90's!

Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
IF I EVER LEARN how to actually sew (which I would LOVE to) I'd like to tailor/amp up this Suzaku no Miko costume my friend made for me for my 16th birthday. Haha baby steps. If I really dreamed big though I'd LOVE to cosplay Usagi in all her forms and have some small hand in making them. :) I'd also love to do a full on Miaka cosplay, uniform, wig, book, etc. But I'd really want someone to do Yui or Tama with me hehe
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Awww getting drunk for the FIRST TIME EVER after Anime Mid-Atlantic 2004, right before I turned 17. I was Suzaku no Miko and my friend (who was doing Vash) was just agape as I downed my first tequila shot. Now I'm an alcoholic hahaha Thank you, anime! But seriously that night was really good times with really great people who I wish I was still in touch with!

Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Hahaha no, obvi. And I probably never will since that's just not where the universe put my skill points when they were building me. ^^ But I have won awards for my Sailormoon fanfiction! No? Not even close? Lol
Tell us a little about yourself
I am a super senior (5th year) at New York University. I'm really wrapped up in getting through the rest of my classes, work-shopping my thesis (Playwriting major), bartending on the weekends, all while TRYING to maintain a social life with my sorority and friends now that I'm living back home with my mom again.
I've really lost track of my fandoms since I got to college, and I really miss being a nerd, watching anime with my friends, learning Japanese, going to cons, stalking my fanficiton sites for reviews of my work and updates from my favorite authors... You get the picture. I'm reaaaally trying to work on a new SM fic, and I'm hoping that joining this site will put me back in touch with that world a little bit and help me start doing more things for me again. I'm hoping to teach in Japan after college, but that won't be for another year and a half, two years probably. :( I am DYING to go back and see all my high school exchange students.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I'd love to meet anyone who lives in the NYC/NJ area, or even if you don't but you think we'd get along. Message me! I'm really nice, if you take commissions I'll pay you for costumage, and I'll even bake you cookies if you teach me some stuff. ^^

SAILORMOON, haha Fushigi Yuugi a close second, Chobits, Ayashi no Ceres and for old time's sake: Tenchi, Trigun, & Gundam Wing.

Right now I'm in love with the Sookie Stackhouse novels, I was going to be her for Halloween but went with Sailormoon instead since I actually had the funds to purchase a costume. Sookie is Buffy for the next generation, (not that twilight crap) though I am pissed about how the TV show is portraying her. :/ It's like manga Usa vs. anime Usa all over again. ><
My favorite character(s)
Usagi, but more so in the manga than in the anime. She does get really cool in Stars though. Haruka & Michiru (I'd love to Cosplay Neptune) Miaka, Chichiri (no da!), I love Mamo-chan but only in the manga. I have very little love for anime Mamo. He's kind of a douche. Tamahome really rocks my socks though in all forms, Ryoko is bad-ass, and Noriko makes me smile.
