What got you into cosplay?
I have always loved to dress up and pretend to be other people.

As a child? Batgirl

Haydee from Gankutsuo.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
Sure! Sylia Stingray's battle armor from the original Bubblegum Crisis OAVs.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
There have been so many! Cosplaying makes me very happy and I enjoy interacting with wonderful people at conventions. Some that rate? The Steam Detectives skit I was involved in at Acen, getting to interview lots of great costumers for a book on cosplay I'm still trying to publish, and getting married to Nemo dressed as Starfire and Nightwing at a Kansas City comics convention (after a fairly normal wedding the weekend before.)
Do you participate in masquerades?
Yes indeed. But now for comfort and fun only. Winning? Bah!
What was your best masquerade experience?
Winning best in show at the first AnimeExpo for the Grandis trio, even though our tech didn't work. Thanks, Guys!!!

Have you won any awards for your costumes?
A few, yes. Just took a best workmanship for a Trinity Blood group, and a DC prize for Golden Age Wonder Woman this summer. The ones I'm proudest of are Best Technical at Akon '02 for Lenneth Valkyrie, and for the Grandis Trio at AnimeExpo. I've won awards for skits, hall costumes, and various contests.
Tell us a little about yourself
I am an ELA coordinator at a community college. My PhD is in second language writing, so I'm fluent in Japanese. I'm happily married to Nemo (who is a better costumer than I am!). We live in a 130 year old house, own the two most spoiled cats in Iowa, and enjoy engaging in a variety of crafty excursions. I write fiction as well, and hope to publish some day.

Right now? I'm all about Paradise Kiss, Trinity Blood, Nana, and Fate/Stay Night.
I also love Maison Ikkoku, Shamanic Princess, Bubblegum Crisis (the OAVs), and Boogie Pop Phantom. There are more, but you know...bandwith.
