What got you into cosplay?
Wanting to be a certain anime character for Halloween is what first got me into cosplay. After that I figured, why does Halloween have to be one day a year? Since then I've been making as many costumes I can with the limited time and resources available to a typical college student.
What was your first costume and why?
My first cosplay was Jesse from Pokemon--I choose Jesse because there are very few evil duos that come close to that kind of Rocky and Bullwinkle antics, and Jesse and James were one of them. I had a friend dress as James and we attended Otakon 2001 together. I loved being stopped by random people and asked to recite the Team Rocket Motto. My most vivid memory must be posing on the stone steps inside the convention center and belting the motto over the crowd...good times.
What is your favorite costume and why?
I actually have two favorite costumes, one of which is my Mia/ Nasueti cosplay from Ronin Warriors (Samurai Troopers for the purists) and Yugi Moto from Yu-Gi-Oh! because I really looked good in it. I try to choose costumes based on my body size and how the actual look of the costume would transfer from the character to a human, and Yugi and Mia turned out the best of the two.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
I don't really have a 'dream' costume right now, as I tend to just set my mind on something and do it.
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
So many amazing things have happened to me in costume, but my most memorable experiences are always centered on meeting people who later became very good friends or sometimes more than that. It's what I love about cosplay- at least at a con, it's the instant icebreaker.
Do you participate in masquerades?
Once, and it was by far the most excellent time I had at a convention.
What was your best masquerade experience?
My best and only masquerade experience would have to be walking on stage after hearing my group had won one of the smaller awards. For my first time doing it, I had no expectations to win anything, but everyone in the skit group did so well, and the crowd reaction was so emmence, I guess the judges took notice.
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Not personally, but the group I was part of won 3rd Place Journeyman at Otakon one year for the skit 'Ronin Fashion Show.'
Tell us a little about yourself
I'm pretty multi-faceted, as far as interests go. I sew, cook, write, draw and have a secret (sorta) passion for acting. I'm currently a college student about to earn my Associates Degree in Liberal Arts (English) and am planning to transfer to a four-year college where I can major in English and minor in Japanese, so I can teach, or translate, or intrepret for business and pleasure. I'm extremely creative and my current project is writing a movie script which I am hoping to see funded and filmed one day.
And although most can't tell, I'm physically disabled with mild cerebral palsy and a seizure disorder. Despite that, I live a full, mostly happy life with my father and cat in a small rural town deep in Southern New Jeresy. I have an older brother by two years whom I love dearly and is responsible in part for my sucess as a cosplayer (he takes care of my hair.) I have a deep, intellectual interest in other cultures and plan to travel extensively once I have the proper funds.
Is there anything else you'd like to add?
I have two major (people) loves of my life, my best friend and long-time cosplayer partner, who occasionally posts here as Itazura no Rizu and my boyfriend Rich.

My favorite book(s)
I make it a point not to choose favorites with books, but currently at the top of my read/ re-read list are: House of Leaves, Sunshine, Vampire Hunter D novels, Resident Evil novelizations, Angels & Demons, The Murder Room, Hiroshima, The NeverEnding Story, Battle Royale, The Tale of Genji, Manga: Kamikaze Kaitou Jeneane, Peices of a Spiral, Bizenghast, Deathnote
My favorite character(s)
Mia from Ronin Warriors--possibly one of the most illogically despised characters in all of anime fandom, although I seriously don't see why. She's an honest to god strong female support character no matter how many times she's used as bad-guy bait. She isn't scared to follow the heroes to certain pain or death which she does again and again. Chick's got balls.
Mello (Mihael Keehl) of Death Note - This series has quickly become one of my favorites in terms of an artist/writer team up, and Mello is probably, other than Light, the most complexly written character in the series. You can guess what he's thinking, but it's never as on the surface as the others, and he's so wonderfully emotive compared to many of the other characters.
My favorite movies(s)
Any version of Peter Pan out there, Dead Poets Society, Labrynith, The Princess Bride, Legend, Shall We Dansu? (the original Japanese, not that Richard Geare crap), Brotherhood of the Wolf, Kung-Fu Hustle
