What got you into cosplay?
I had gone to Anime Expo '01 andddddd... either '99 or '00? The thing that caught my eye there was the cosplayers -- to think that so many of them made those things themselves really got me. Though it wasn't until AX '04 that I started really cosplaying (and even that was a commission), it was always at the back of my mind.
What was your first costume and why?
The first costume I made was Zoisite from PGSM. I had worn a commissioned PGSM costume at AX, and met a trio that are now very close friends of mine who were cosplaying the villians from that show. As AX went on, I told them I was planning to modify my Mercury to her 'dark' version, but before Ani-Magic, the planned convention for that, I got the crazy idea to just do Zoisite, as they had the other four main villians.
This also marked my first advent into really sewing. I had worked with my grandmother before for a halloween thing, but I barely did anything on it. Enough to give me a vague idea of what to do, but not a lot. But I stared at the pattern a lot, got a bit of help with suggestions on a crazy piece from Livejournal's cosplay community, and at Ani-Magic, it was done. And I loved it.
Do you have a dream costume you'd like to make?
A few - hopefully I can do this!
What has been your most memorable cosplay experience?
Getting to be a Lucky Star cheerleader and an Ouran host at AX '08 thanks to ACP! :D
Also meeting the Fables creators in costume, and just little things like being recognized in something kinda obscure - idk, cosplay is fun :D
Do you participate in masquerades?
Not quite as often as I'd like :D I like performing.
What was your best masquerade experience?
I think D.Gray-myu's "Be a Man" Ouran skit for ALA 2007. There was SO MUCH that went wrong, but I think it turned out pretty awesomely in the end. Chas.Tsukishiro did an AMAZING job on the vocals for Renge, and Michi performed Renge at the last minute perfectly :D
Have you won any awards for your costumes?
Mmhmm. Zoisite got 'Best Construction - Novice' at Ani-Magic with my Dark Kingdom group.
Angelo was one of the fourth place winners at CBF '07, which was totally surprising to me :D
Also, I was Hughes in Brilliant Moon & Friends' FMA skit at Fanime 2007 which won Honorable Mention for Performance.
Tell us a little about yourself
Office drone, could use another job but it's not so bad. Just wish there were more money in it :P I enjoy musical theater, driving, gaming, and I want to learn to dance.
